N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Amberw:  Sarge usually charges the "going PIR rate" for his shuttle, which is usually $3/pp each way.  If you go to his MeetandGreet the night before PIR, he has a place to sign up for his shuttle.

Many of the hotels in the area have the free hot breakfast buffet, served earlier on PIR Day.  Navy Lodge gives you a brown bag breakfast to take with you to PIR.

Francela313, my bf has been gone for three weeks and I received my first letter last Thursday, so tomorrow I should be getting some letters. Maybe your sailor has been too busy or tired to write. I hope you hear from him soon! What division?

Catmom509- Thank you for the calling info. I was under the impression that this is a crucial part of their training coming up and was expecting less phone calls at this point. Heres hoping I get that call, but if not, again no news is good news. That I have learned. :)

I live in Washington State, I got the form letter in 2 days.  It was mailed on a Monday and I got it on the Wednesday.  He said he wrote this past Sunday so I will see how long the mail takes.  Booked @ the Ramada and booking flights on SW.  His A school is in Chicago so we will be able to spend all weekend with him! Whew Whoo!!!  Hoping you all get your letters and calls soon!!  :)

Ladies,

Your SRs usually don't know why they can't make calls for awhile because their RDCs just tell them to let their loved ones know.  My Sailor daughter didn't even get a chance to make this call because she was getting her wisdom teeth out.  I found out through my Navy mom friends here when their SRs called and told them.

The reason for no calls for about 3 weeks is they have reached the part of their training where it is getting more intense, they are learning more for their tests and trying to pull together as divisions to earn reward flags for academics, barracks, drill, etc, which they will be carrying in the front of each division at PIR. When they do well, they may be rewarded by their RDCs with a phone call to their loved ones, but still not all may make this call due to watch, etc.  You will just have to rely on the weekly letter that you receive from them and stay plugged in here for your support and encouragement!   I received a call from my daughter on the Friday afternoon 2 weeks before PIR while I was at the supermarket, but your results may vary~~

Hoping I get a letter today or I will go crazy!! I live in California so it takes forever for the mail to get here from Illinois :(
