For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

CoTwinMom will be Div 233.
Maybe we could each wear a tag with N4M on them and our tag name?

Comment by diannep on June 13, 2013 at 8:46am: Mary Elizabeth: I think you will get your birthday call a day early! YAH! Also, ladies, some of them may have "watch" and miss calling today. Don't worry...the call will come later.

Also, remember, they have been up since early yesterday morning so they will sound quite tired. Most will be munching on candy and drinking energy drinks. They will be allowed to "hit their racks" a couple of hours early tonight....at 8 pm!

Calls from 229/230 should come in after 2 pm this afternoon. Keep those phones close and be checking FB accounts because they could opt to get on the computers before getting phone time. HOOYAH!

Comment by NavyWifeFal on June 13, 2013 at 8:26am: Karen I was just marking my calendar off!! I can not believe that it is this close! We will be getting "I'm a sailor" calls soon. Once that happens I think I will be able to completely relax.

Let us all keep our SR's in our prayers as they go through BS. I hope that I will get to meet some of you ladies as well. I will be in a black & white dress at PIR.(I think.. i've changed my mind a million times already!) If you see me and I don't recognize you from your profile picture first please come say hello. Getting to know you all has been a pleasure.

Comment by Karen on June 13, 2013 at 7:40am: OMG. One week from today I will be boarding the plane that will take me to PIR!!! I cant believe it is almost here. The first two weeks after my son left I cried tears of missing him and worry. The last week or so the water works have started again but now they are tears of joy and pride. I can not wait to see him, touch him and hug him. I also can not wait to meet the wonderful people I have met on this site. We are almost there ladies!!!!
