Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

He thinks he has to drink more water and he wil be fine!! He is really looking forward to Graduation and seeing us!! Counting the days!!

Yep, the Navy has a way of throwing curve balls at us! The bonus here is that he is done earlier now and avoided have to do PTor drills in the heat (or whenever it finally gets warm in Great Lakes!). So glad for you that you are freaking out on something good coming up--PIR!!

He's been writing each day, but hadn't sent them til he had a bunch together cause he's almost out of stamps. LOL. Oh, I'm an ecstatic mom!

When they called us on april 14th to tell us he was leaving on the 16th i was very angry because i thought i still had two months left with him. Today I've been thinking about how right now i would have been freaking out because he would be leaving in two weeks. I'm now glad that instead of freaking out because he was leaving, now im freaking out because ill be seeing him soon! I'm glad in april i only had two days notice. That way i didn't have time to lose my mind, just enough time to say goodbye. Only 15 more days until i leave for Great Lakes!! :)
