OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

ChristineRN; Please do not feel pressure to donate anything.  We know how hard it is for many people just to find the money to attend PIR.  For those who want to donate something to help Sarge offset his expenses for the MeetandGreet, he accepts any donations you like at the MeetandGreet.

We are going to Sarge's meet and greet. I would love to support his efforts, but our luggage is limited, as I know most folks will be. What do you guys think about donating a gift card to Walmart or a phone card instead of a basket? Is that lame? I did get an address where I can mail a basket ahead, but how will the winner get it home? Any ideas?

Hey Sophia! I just got my military dependent id a couple of weeks ago :) As long as your DD form is signed by your spouse, you will be able to get your i.d.! It doesn't have to be sealed, as long as it is signed-mine wasn't sealed, either! Also, when you get there, don't let the signs about your spouse having to be with you mislead you. When I got to the place to get my id, there was a HUGE sign saying that your sponsor MUST be with you. I got really scared! As long as you have the form, though, they should give it to you! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
