N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi All, just got a letter from my daughter.  They're what two weeks and 2 days in and she's ready to come home.  She's my only child and is missing home really bad. Any words of advice that I can send for encouragement - my heart is breaking for her.  I know she can do it, she needs to know she can!

kitkat508 - I am reading that you can and that it just has to be signed (like yours is). I have never done that., hubby was always with me :-) However I would call the ID center that you are going too so that you know exactly what they require. They will most likely want 2 forms of ID (one with a photo) and possibly your marriage license.

Here is the DoD CAC website: http://www.cac.mil/resources/ Resources page.

Also, here is the RAPIDS Appointment scheduler website so you can look up the nearest ID center. ANY branch should be able to go to ANY ID center to get their ID card : RAPIDS Appointments

Just click on your state and click "Go". From there you can choose the city nearest you. Then the page that comes up will give you info and there should be a phone umber. It is best to make an appointment.

Also, find out how you will be able to get onto the base as PASS and ID are located inside. The Visitors Center is USUALLY outside where you can get a day pass.

Most have a lunch hour so check that as well as it may not be the same as PASS and ID's lunch hour (I know....! Speaking from experience.)

I do urge you to call PASS and ID first and get a name of whomever you speak too...sometimes the "left hand does not know what the right one is doing".

My SR has a test tomorrow.  Only hope that PEARSON, who runs state testing for us here in Virginia schools, 3-12 doesn't have anything to do with it!  Good luck to all recruits!!

Hey everyone! My husband is in Div 933. I have gotten a letter from him (last Saturday) and Sunday I got a phone call! I had a question for anyone that knows-as a spouse, I received the DD Form 1172-2 in the mail. My SR has signed it. I know you need this for the military dependent ID, so am I able to go ahead and get the ID while he is still at basic training?

navywife2015,

The info on Sarge's Meet & Greet is actually under the Events section on the lower left of this page.  Not sure if the one for this group is already up.  Check out the View All to see if it's up yet.  For those attending, you will need to RSVP that you will be attending, then go down to the Comment section to put in how many in your party.  Sarge needs that to plan for the food~~

This is a kid and family friendly Navy event.  It's at the Sundance Saloon, which is closed to the public for it.  Lots of info on PIR and what to do in the area from Sarge!  He and his wife hosts this every week there is a PIR!!  You might be able to meet each other there too!  Put your N4M userid on your name tag in addition to your real name~~
