~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning everyone, I can't believe how close you all are getting to PIR. It seems like you just got started but it will be here before you know it :) It was a very exciting night at my house last night. Our Sailor is home, Whoooo Hooooo. OMG, it is so good to have her home again. It has been 3 months since we saw her and that was for just 2 days. This time we have her for 10 days and it feels so good to have her here. Her baby bump is getting so big and she is so adorable. Her Sailor hubby didn't get to come with her this trip. We are going to be making all kinds of goodies this week for the new baby about to take over our lives. Well, she pretty much has already taken over our lives and she isn't even here yet lol. The babies name is going to be Eastyn and I will post a pic of what i already made for her :) I am sure we will be on a mission to a fabric store today or tomorrow lol. So many fun things we can make. I know you all are ready to see and hug your Sailors as well and it won't be much longer now. I hope you all get great calls and letters this week.
Hi Friends!
"There is surely a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off'."
Proverbs 23:18
I wrote up until the last week of PIR. I just had some final thoughts after he completed BST-21. However, my son did BST-21 the Thursday a week before PIR. I think I mailed that weekend or Monday, arrived in GL on Tuesday (we had a Thursday PIR). I had the letter saved on the computer if for some reason it did not follow him.
It did follow him though and he received it in A school :-)
We have had reports from many years back (I wasn't on the site at the time) that someone did not get those last letters...but do not know the details. My only guess to that would be if a Sailor was maybe moving around a bit (several short schools) and maybe it didn't "catch up" with them.
OR just plain lost. The mail system...is mail. Still a Federal entity and still has to be handled that way. They do have to forward the mail to the recipient and so it goes through that process.
destiny1129 - What are you looking for about A school? Liberty? Time frame? It's different for each command and rating. :-)
does anyone know how A school works? my SR is going to A school in San diego
diannep- that makes sense! Thanks! :)
Yep, we recommend a week before PIR to stop mail. Supposedly it is forwarded to their A School, but you know how that goes. If you want to keep writing just in case, make copies of those letters and take them with you to PIR in case they didn't arrive!
abnoelle (ship 13 div 239)- I can't wait for the whole experience now. Just all of it! lol And i'm already kind of excited that it's getting closer to when we'll get our next set of letters from them.
J's Wife, I know I'm so excited! PIR is going to be amazing.
OMGoodness! That's not that many more letters!!! :) I'm so excited, we keep getting closer and closer!
