Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Do you put your SR's last name and division on them? Are they for the Meet and Greets? I've just seen them for sale, I haven't really seen any info on them. Thanks!

Didn't work for us....we just about got stampeded by excited families trying to get to their sailors...and then....we just stood there....and stood there....and stood there....we had never spotted our sailor during PIR so weren't sure where he was. He is short and was stuck in the middle! So we finally headed down to the floor and went looking through the masses. There he was, talking to his shipmates....like it was a normal day! WHAT? I asked him if he even knew we were there! He said he figured we were, but had looked straight ahead during PIR so had not spotted us in the bleachers...he wanted to stay focused! HA! It was a nice hug and he introduced us to the RCPO (leader) of his division....the one who gets to carry the cool sword during PIR. Very nice young man. Anyway it has never been reported to us that someone could NOT find their sailor after Liberty Call so I don't think you will have any worries! :-)

Just remember that you only have about 10 minutes after Liberty Call to hug/get pictures before they will clear the Hall.

Immediately after liberty call the sailors tend to move around to congratulate each other etc. so...

Comment by diannep on May 29, 2013 at 11:08pm: Yep, mail went out on Tuesday this week rather than Monday. So letters may show up a day later!

Comment by abnoelle on May 29, 2013 at 10:40pm: destiny1129, Monday was a holiday for the post office so I don't think they were moving mail around. I'm expecting mine Friday since I usually get them Thursday, but you never know. Just gotta keep checking!
