N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Navymom, You are in the right group. If the recruiter told you division 245 this would be the one.

MariElaine:  I agree with FTLW.  You will get info from your SR.  There would be no problem changing/cancelling your hotel if you need to, so don't worry about that (assuming you booked directly and not through a discount travel site).  I know you hate being in limbo right now...and will be praying for his drs appt tomorrow.  Hoping that they are being overly cautious and he will be fit to go!

Dear GROUP,

Here is what I have for your SHIP/DIVISIONS:

02/933

04/814

09/245-246

??/243-244

14/241-242

??237-238

The ones in Bold I need a Ship number. Please post this and as soon as I have all of them I can make your Divisions Discussions.

Anytime a Recruit has a change in their status or needs to relay information home...it is done by the Recruit.

Occasionally, I have seen another recruit call home for a recruit when the recruit could not, but I have not seen staff do so. (Has it ever happened? Possibly, but my personal experience is no.)

MariElaine - Your SR will contact you with any information. Prayers for him!

he is currently on limited duty

Our son informed us on Saturday, May11, that he will be seeing a cardiologist on Tuesday, May 14 during our first phone call that he was allowed since arriving at RTC. We are currently unsure of his status. We are wondering if we will be contacted by either Jon or his Superior with information whether he will be graduating on his specified date, June 28, 2013. We have purchased our airline tickets and hotel and are concerned we will need to reschedule our travel/lodging plans. Any information would be appreciated.

CatMom509 - that's a good tip!! This past Saturday was the first time I received a call from my SR.. and it was from an 847 area code.  I usually don't answer calls that I don't recognize but something in my heart told me to go ahead and answer and if it so happened to be a sales call (at 7am) he was going to get a "blessing".. So glad it was my boy!!!!

Comment by CatMom509 on May 13, 2013 at 8:47pm

Ladies,

When you do start receiving calls from your SRs, the area code will most likely show "847."  It could be any area code though because the Chicago area has multiple area codes.  Just answer.  If it turns out to be a sale call, just tell them "No, thanks!"  Also, let your family members know about that area code.  I forgot to let my 2nd daughter know and her SR sister had to use another calling card code because she wouldn't answer!
