Sounds like he's gone for most of the important stuff.  I could not do what your SIL does either - that seems wrong.  Unfortunate that you had to cancel your travel plans - something to look forward to was taken away.

Our internet was down all day at work until a few minutes ago.  Now, it's catchup time.

I know. You think negatively, negative will occur. What you put out comes back. I understand those completely and always try to be the positive optimistic one. Six weeks until his graduation (been pushed ahead from original orders, don't know how much I want to rely on the change yet) is a lot shorter than when he was at RTC, so I'm trying to see the positive in that. It was really nice to think that that wait could be cut in half. Three weeks then another three sounded so much nicer. And we've only had a total of 9 days alone in a since for a vacation since we've been together. Saturday marks 8 years since our first date. We had our honeymoon and a weekend before he left and last weekend. A friend of mine suggested we take some time away while he's home on leave, but there are a couple of commitments that week, I don't know if it will be possible. And an alone escape when we move to him will be really hard.

We missed our anniversary last year when he went to MEPS the first time. We missed our anniversary this year because he was at RTC. We've missed every other holiday and celebration this year with him gone (why did everyone have to be born in the summer) I'm fine with what we are missing. I know that I have a LOT of other celebrations to miss out on during this adventure. My SIL would hold off on all celebrations and holidays while her hubby was gone, and the week he came home from the sandbox, was when she held all of them. I can't do something like that, can't do it to the kids or to my sanity. My main stinker was getting excited to go see him and then so quickly it was gone. I'm trying to embrace anytime I get with him, and it was just taken away.

I'll try to be done with my pity party. Anyone have some awesome news? How's the wedding coming, Jess?

Sailorwifesch -Don't feel guilty - you have a right to your feelings.  Or course, it is sad to look forward and see what you will be missing.  If that didn't make you sad, you'd be weird.  However, you can't dwell on the negative because that is not good either.  I don't mean you have to go all "Susie Sunshine" but there's a saying that what you think about, you bring about.

The closer it gets, the more expensive it gets. I don't see him wanting to pay for a last minute plane ticket. Thanks ladies for being my shoulder.

Sorry to hear that. That sucks. Maybe he will change his mind about it.
Dont feel selfish. Venting is what we are here for.

So very bummed today, and it started off so great. Hubby and I had been debating all week about booking another trip for me to see him before he graduates and he finally gave me the go ahead and I booked it at 3 this morning. Now, not even 12 hours later, he just asked me to cancel it. I wish he had just told me no from the beginning instead of me getting all excited about another solo vacation to spend some time alone together. Yes, it will be nice when he's home on leave and it will be great when he can see the kids, but then he'll be gone and with it being the holidays coming soon after, I don't see us being together again until after we move to him in early Feb. No Thanksgiving. No Christmas. No my birthday. No New Year's. Heck, I don't even know if we'll be out there in time for Valentine's Day. Sorry to vent and sound so pathetic. I know there will be deployments that either we'll face or other's will face that are longer. I hate that I feel selfish.

Stephanie - you gotta do what you gotta do - no matter what anyone else tells you because it is your life to live.  You don't have to apologize or feel like anyone is going to criticize you.  I don't think you'll get that here (I hope not!)

Coach - so glad to hear your son continues to do well (in spite of bumps in the road).

Coach-What class is he in? It would be interesting if he were in the class with kyle. What rate did he get? MM, EM or ET? Glad to hear he is doing god tho. And thanks for the encouragement :)

My boy is doing fine. Had a few a few bumps in the road but if everything would work out perfect for him then how would he learn anything. :)  One thing he says is that his class mates are great.  He is with a group that have a lot in common.  It is funny how they would end up all together. Fate or luck!  Steph, no matter what happens you wil be fine.
