Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Ronnie - Proud Sailor Mom on June 7, 2011 at 7:58pm: If you are going to drive to O'Hare and wait with your sailor for his/her flight, consider parking lot "E". It's a remote lot and the rates are much cheaper ($11 vs. $19 for 8 hrs or less). There is a train between the lot and the terminals. Very handy!

I'll be the woman smiling because im hoping my man wont recognize me at first. Im cutting and dying my hair before we leave and im wearing a dress for the PIR. My SR has never seen me in anything other than jeans/shorts and a t-shirt/tank top or my swin suit when we went to the beach or swimming. I told him in a letter not to even bother looking for me and to just look for his parents after the ceremony.

I just ordered some very exciting attire for PIR, yep, got me some cooling inserts for my bra and a cooling hat. I ordered in Bright Lime Green so you all will be able to tell where I am at!!!! I kid about the color. But, I will be the women with the smile on her face because she is staying cool in her Bra!!!

And i planning on driving to the airport that day to. Is parking for sure $24 for the day? I couldnt remember from last year when i was there for my brother.
