Haha well thank you, I just have a passion for English and possibly a better understanding of my future than most my age, which I'm guessing any military girlfriend would at this point :)

OMG, I could be your grandmother!

That's too funny!!!!!

You sound very mature :-> but I should have picked up on the "my Nuke".

Haha well I am only 19 so maybe this is about as wise as I'll get, who knows?

I can't say that I've gotten any wiser as I've aged...

I'm just older and remember less.

I never used to be a worrier but I've found that as I've gotten older and maybe just a little wiser I worry about almost everything, especially the ones I love and care about.

jpgcharity - I can relate to how you feel.  My son is in A School for cryptology.  I heard it was hard, so I worried about him when I didn't hear from him for 2 weeks.  Turns out he lost his phone.  He says he is doing well.  That's a relief, but then I worry that it will get hard as school progresses.  I guess it is just a Mom's fate to worry.  Once he gets out of A School, I'm sure I'll think of something else to worry about.  I'm not a worrier by nature, but this is such important/life altering stuff.

My nuke told me that it's a four year degree minus all the pointless GE requirements, so in order to get a four year degree in nuclear engineering our nukes still have to go through all GE requirements even after their grueling nuke school :/. My nuke also hasn't been complaining that much and he hasn't been doing extra study time and even though he says he's doing well on all his tests I'm still worried after hearing everyone else talk about their nukes having such a hard time; I don't know if he just has a knack for this stuff or if he really isn't doing as well as he thinks he is or if he'll suddenly not get the material as easily.

Going undesignated is a very bad thing.  I know that.  But it seems only fair that they should give Nukes some special break since they had to be really smart to get the rate in the first place.  Then again, if they did that, maybe even more would drop out.

It sounds really high stress.  Boot camp is probably looking pretty easy at this point!

If you can't finish the pipeline, you are switch to un-designated (i think thats the term), and you do not by any means want that. Nuke is a series of three 6 month schools, A school, then power school, then prototype. Prototype is the home of the infamous 12 hour days (then again sometimes mine is doing that now!). They go into school at 530am, class ends at 4, they have to maintain their rooms for inspections, iron and whatnot, eat, and do a min. of 2-3 hours of study. The day before a test mine goes in at 530 eats once after class goes to study and comes back to his room at midnight. It's crazy.

I heard they shove a 4 yr college degree at them in less than a year.

Is there any way to change to a different rate without too much penalty?
