Blu - Your daughter really needs to protect herself.  Depending on how bad the injury is, they could discharge her.

Let's just say the knee is really bad.  They could give her a RE4 discharge which bans her from all joining all military services forever.  She needs to know that an RE8 code is the one to ask for.  This allows her to come back into the military (with a waiver), once she is healed.  She doesn't need to ask now, but when/if the time comes and they are saying a discharge is possible, then she will already know what to do.

It's very critical that she knows this stuff and knows the ground rules.  Yes, maybe she doesn't what to go back in the military now, but she might 3 years from now when our economy still sucks.

The bottomline is, she might get better, or she might not.  But either way, she needs to know the rules, and needs to fight for them when she still active duty.

Prayers to your daughter...

Blu~ I know you must feel so bad that she is hurt, that you can't be there, and that graduation will be later than 7/1. My prayers are with you all. Sometimes, what we think is a disappoint, turns into a gift. I will pray that for you!

Blu, I will be praying for her recovery.

Blu, I am so sorry. Poor girl, but better to let her injury heal now then to damage it to the point of permanent damage. I'm sending you an e-hug.

BluAnjel...very sorry to hear of your SR's injury...I wish her a speedy recovery. I totally understand the feeling of wanting to be there for her and not being able to. I will pray for you both as well.  Keep us posted with her progress...good luck to her!!

Pam I love your blessings, God is good all of the time. I am going to RSVP for the meet and great and hope we make it in time, my husband said he would attend also. We are total opposites when it comes to being social! I have to go buy some small coolers for the road trip, mine have seen better days. Found a cute basket thingy to bring to the PIR to hold everything on my list lol.
I am so dang excited, just ask all my friends, it is all that we talk about!

Hi everyone.  Sad news - looks like I'm not going to get to meet you all at PIR as my SR has injured her knee pretty badly and has been ASMO'd.  She called last night at 2200 (10pm), and my heart stopped when I saw the 847 area code.  I knew it couldn't be good 1)at that hour and 2)just having got a call from her on Thursday.  I'm going to stay with this group until I find out where she's going to be (new div) and what her PIR will be.  I'm tortured as I can't do anything to comfort her or help her heal other than pray (which is a huge comfort to me!).  It kills me that she's having to prolong the boot camp experience, since she is so homesick and missing friends and family.  The only things she was able to say was that she is having to start physical therapy on the knee, she wouldn't be graduating on 7/1 and that she'd probably be able to call on the weekend(s) with updates.  Thank you all in advance for your support and for the many great posts we've shared here!

Pam:  What a wonderful GIFT for you all!

mominva:  I know you feel doubly blessed with the twins coming and PIR also!  A whirlwind, yes...but what a wonderful one!  Congrats!
