Blu, when that song came out it was impossible for me to listen to without crying, now it is Letters Home. LaLa I need to come see you for a couple of days, we have been experiencing record high temps down here. Today it is suppose to be cooler, high 80's, oh...ok, yes not 90's but dang, the heat effects my MS symptoms, Grrrrrr

Connie- it is always beautiful in NC lol, although it did storm here last night and has been raining this morning. The storms brought some cooler weather and it is supposed to be a beautiful Memorial Day Weekend. You are right, special days like Memorial day have a whole different feeling when your child or loved one is in the military. God Bless them all <3

@ blu... the biggest thing the Dr is concerned with is the drive there.  IT will be a 15 hr drive.. over 2 days.  He said pain wise AND i'll be on blood thinners for a while after surgery, he doesn't feel its a good idea.  Wish we could afford to fly but that's not in the equation.

Amen Connie!!  Great words (ya made me all teary eyed!!).  I asked my ladie's group to pray for ALL our recruits and men and women in our Military and for those that have served before them for this special weekend.  We owe these (you!!) people such a debt of gratitude for the life we are able to live as Americans.  Listen to the song "Arlington" by Trace Adkins (sp) - makes me cry everytime!!!  <sigh>

@Pamroy, too bad your Dr didn't have you doing surgery now or even a couple weeks ago!  I was up and about in about 3 weeks and only using a cane after about two.  I'm 42, so being a little "younger" really helped me.  I got mine done two days after Christmas and had to deal with the Michigan snow and ice afterward - it was treacherous, but I was AMAZED how quick I recovered and was able to get around.

I'll keep you all posted if I find anything out about handicapped accomodations, sounds like many of our families are gonna need 'em!!  :-)

Good morning Dianne, how is your clock working today?  Beautiful day in NC, have the windows open airing out the house before it gets too hot.

Praying for a letter and phone call.  God knows that I am always coming with a list during my prayer time, but also with praise for those who got letters and phone calls yesterday.

Let us not forget what this weekend means.  Let is remember those who have gone before us and fought for the freedoms that we hold dear to us.

"All gave some, some gave all".  Those words were always powerful while I was serving but have a different impact now that my child is serving.  Thank You Moms/Da's/Spouse's for your sacrifices and your SR!

I know this PIR is different but I bet they will still have wheelchairs and Sailors there to take those who can't walk to their seats.

As far as what week/day it is in training, they always seem behind because P-days don't count toward training days and most end up having battlestations and PIR in week 6 or 7 even though they have been there 7 or 8 weeks.

Congrats to all those graduating high school and college as well. I had one mom order ribbons for PIR and for her other child's college graduation. She is flying home today from yesterday's PIR so she can be at her daughters college graduation tomorrow. I am sure her head is spinning; that will be a crazy fast trip.

To the ones needing handicapped accomodations. I've got to keep up with yall!  I'm gonna have to be in a wheelchair for this show!  I'm suppose to have total hip replacement surgery NOW... but asked dr' if it would mess up my being at my daughters PIR.... yes it would! So... given that, told him the surgery would be the week AFTER PIR... nothing gonna stop me from being there.. not even hip pain!  I also have handicapped tags... will arrive @ 430 if need be!  The crowds/parking 'nightmares' is starting to get me a bit nervous! YIKES!  Glad to know porta 'heads' will be around.. kinda figured with as many people as to be there, there would be!!  What/when/ etc is this meet n greet?!!?

Good morning, everyone.  Hoping for letters for you all today!
Comment by Paula (was Capricorna) on May 27, 2011 at 7:53am

BluAnjel & Angie - if/when you receive answers about arrangements for handicapped, please let me know.  My SR's Dad is disabled, will attend PIR but won't be able to walk far or climb steps.  He'll have a handicapped tag.  I was going to call RTC public relations closer to PIR, but if you can share the info, it will save my bothering them.

God bless all you great ladies and your recruits..
