that pic is so cool @Lala! I love seein all the uniforms, tradition and ceremony. It makes my heart sweel with pride and my eyes tear up!
Ok, so I have tons of comments and questions. Y'all write too much when I'm not looking!! Boss is gone today so I can goof off on the internet today!!
1st of all, katie's mom - you are a hoot! can't wait to meet you - you going to the meet and greet? THe canadian geese are a staple up here (i'm in michigan)... they're a nuisance, too -kinda like prarie dogs out in Denver and the plains. The walk around and leave goose-poop everywhere and they can be MEAN and territorial. I think Angie may have confirmed this, but I read that the PIR is on the A-school site?
@PSgama, my SR is week 3 day 1 today and she left on May 4... (seems like she should be 4-1, but whatever)
@JessicaB - congrats on your graduation sweetie!! you are the same as my son, his last day of HS is today! strange, I have two graduations in one year :)
@Angie, I asked on the FB NRTC page about accomodations for disabled persons, and parking and such. My dad's a 100% disabled vet, he has Parkinsons and wondering what kind of drive situation they have (ie: how close can we get him, he can't walk very far and he can't do a lot of bleacher steps and stuff) - do you have any idea of what we can expect? He'll have his military ID and handicapped tag with him. He's so proud of my daughter and can't wait to see her, as she's carrying on our family's military tradition. He had kind of lost hope about that since all his grandkids are girls except for my son, who's mildly autistic. He'll be there cheering (in his own way) his sister on, too! Thank you so much for the info you've provided, it's been priceless!
Getting sooo excited after the phone call yesterday, just hopin my SR can hang in there with the medical issues she's having! She also said she's grad and go, but I'm prayin for at least a few hours with her on Saturday - we'll keep our fingers crossed!
God bless all you great ladies and your recruits... Blu
one more thing: has anyone seen a group for Sonar Techs? can't seem to find one on N4M
JessicaB- My daughter was in the choir as well, you may not see them standing in a row in front of you for the whole PIR ceremony but you will be able to see them much better than most people can see their Sailors. The choir is right up front and it is amazing when you hear them sing. With a decent zoom lens you can get some great pics. And if you join a coupl of PIR groups before your own you can ask them to take pics of the choir at PIR and come back and post them for you. I did this and got several pics of my daughter in her dress white uniform. I even sent one of the pics to her and she was shocked lol. She wrote in her next letter, omg how did you get that pic, you amaze me Mom. lol
Here is one of the pics I took of the choir at PIR.
Angie - Good seeing you here... I'm playing on this group now because of depper I was working with....
Just curious which of the 3 boot camp bases will they be on? Camp Moffett, Camp Porter, or Camp John Paul Jones?
Personnally, I wished they would have these ladies park on Moffett and have them walk/march to Porter. I would love to hear the singing in the tunnel... Woo-hoo! now that is tradition!
Thank you! I'm excited, I do wish my boyfriend could be there but he is doing much more important things right now. I'm going to take a picture in my cap and gown when I'm there holding a sign saying "I love you Grant!" and send the picture in a letter, I think he will like it(:
@Angie you should sell candy and water, and maybe chex-mix like things? muchies(:
