No I doubt he knows. However it's usually domestic solely due to the number of people.

Marybeth, I was referring to the rank advancements they test twice a year and the results of who advanced are posted on navytimes.com

CT:  Did your SR mention if they were on a charter flight rather than a domestic flight?
Comment by CTmomof3 on May 23, 2011 at 7:44pm
Some going to Pensacola leave the day of PIR. The SR have been informed.

Also, Ramada is where the MeetNGreet for the PIR group will be on Thurs night, and they also have a shuttle.  Many stay at the Navy Lodge (no shuttle service but close to RTC and very reasonable). I actually found Residence by googling "hotels in the Great Lakes area."  You can get some hotel info by looking back on groups who recently PIRed...to see what they posted about their hotels.  Take a look at PIR 5/20 and PIR 5/13 groups.

Residence Inn Waukegan, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn are very close together and all Marriotts.  They all have PIR shuttles.  We stayed at Residence and loved it.  It's pet friendly for those driving who want to bring pets to see their sailors.  They also have free hot buffet breakfast and I believe a free evening meal M-Th for those arriving early.  Also, a great place for those with a large group who need separate bedrooms but in the same unit...they have 2 bdr 2bth units, all with full kitchens.  Studio units too (also with full kitchens).  Being a holiday weekend, those 2 bdrms book quickly so if you think you want one, grab it now.  Be sure to ask about the PIR discount.  We used AAA and saved a bit of money that way.

It is very rare that they actually leave on PIR day...except for those moving over to GL for A School who don't get liberty until after they have completed the move (could take several hours).  Most will have PIR day with you...but many will be shipping out the next day, so your time with them Sat. would be visiting at the airport as they wait for flights.

hi CT Mom,

My son went through the RI area recruiters but I have meet some of the Middletown reruiters since I work in town. Great men.

When you wrote earlier about the advancements  i was unsure what you meant can you clarify this for me?

If you find yourself here in town give me a heads up and we can grab a coffee and toast our young men. And feel free to give my info to the other Middletown mom

thanks for sharing
