2sailorsonsmom - Since your son still has 10 days.  Have him come over to NavyDEP.com and we will pump him up on all the stuff that will happen to him.

The only reason I'm here with you guys is one of the deppers on NavyDEP is in division 214... Just keeping track on how well she is doing...

Tell your son:

Life at bootcamp is just like a train. You have three options:
1. Stand on the railroad tracks and get run over - Which means, you try to stop the process. You can't stop the process, so go with it.

2. You can move off the track and watch the train pass you up - Which means, while your friends move ahead and learn the Navy to be successful in their careers, you are standing to the side wondering what you should do next. Basically, get with the program. If 50,000 recruits can pass each year, what make you any different from them?

3. Hop on the train and go with it - By this, I mean, whatever the program is, do your best. If at the end of the day you can say "I did my best today", then you have done your job. Everyone in life has a "Weak Link", there is always something you will have trouble with. Learn to overcome those problems and continuing moving down the track.

Craig - Thank you.  As always, you provide above and beyond the requested.  It is so cool to have you here with us.  My son is going to be CTR so you are special in my heart.

AutumnsMom:  Did you mean Div 931?  That one is in the PIR 6/17 group.  I don't think it would be 913...that one would have been several groups ago.

LittleAngel07 - my son is in Ship 12 Div 212.  He is loving it! He wrote that he passed his swim qualification on first try - those lessons at 4 yrs old are finally paying off!!!

Capricorna - All the ships at Great Lakes are built exactly the same.  They were contracted all together.

Per the number of recruits.  They get hammered from June to October because of all the high school seniors graduating.  It's called "Surge" from June to October.  During the surge, they have to rearrange the walls in the barracks to allow more recruits to having sleeping quarters.  So they move the walls. They do this "as needed".  From the attached picture, you can see your recruits are in a "1,2,1" (non-surge) floor layout.  The surge units use a  "3,3,3" layout.  Since the picture would be tiny, and you guys wouldn't be able to read it, I will post the direct link to the pic...    Go division 214, Go Navy!....

I also love the clock, there is one on my phone as well. I think tomorrow when we get into the 30's will be a milestone(: think of it as counting 4, 3, 2, 1, 0!

Thanks Craig, for posting the pix and the explanations.  That's huge!  Are all the ships at GL that big?  That's quite a large amount of recruits.  My son is in 02 James Ruben.  I looked it up and mailed him info about the original James Ruben.
