Blu - I totally agree with Connie.  The post 9/11 is alot better to me because you can transfer it to your kids...

Here is more info....

Craig - Thanks for the link.  Loved the slides.  I have been trying to picture what things might be like at GL and this was so helpful.  The run down on what happens during P-Days, etc. was great too.  I especially loved your comments about the Welcome sign!

Connie - I'm a visual guy too.  Once I see it,  I understand it.  I write alot of stuff to help deppers understand boot camp before they go for my website.  I am slowly adding different topics when I have time.  You may want to go to this link to give you a better idea of how Great Lakes boot camp is laid out.  This should give you a better understanding when you recruits calls and complains about having to sing as they match to Camp Moffett, then you'll understand why and how far it actually is.

@LaLa, we spent a long weekend in Hendersonville in Oct, it was beautiful, love the NC mountains. @ Diannep, you are too funny.
No letter for me but I am not so sure my daughter knows how to write a letter lol.
@ Blu, I didn't realize they were still offering the Montgomery GI Bill, she was smart for choosing the Post 9/11. Post pays more money for school and provides a living allowance and money for books. The MGIB just provides you $ while enrolled and you pay for your tuition out of that money. If you have any $ left after tuition then you can use it for living expense. If you google you can find a lot of info on it. The VA website also has information on it. Hope this helps.

Got the first letter home today....very thankful for the raising we did with him and looking forward to seeing us 7/1.  Oh and it's getting easier...LOL!!!

got letters today, too!! yippee!!  Like you said dianep, up one letter down in another.  I loved what she called "pump and dump"!!  water and #2 (she didn't put "#2" tho!!)  She said she gets "weekend liberty", but surprised if she would know if that's just Saturday or both days after grad.

Does anyone know the difference between Montgomery GI Bill and post-9/11 ??  she said she turned down the Montgomery, so not sure what that means.

I got my letter from my Son today!!! I cried & laughed what he wrote. He said keep writing it's like xmas to him. He hopes to see his brother in 2 weeks at Church on Sunday.

Katie'sMom:  They start with around 88 in each division, but lose some...then gain some others.  65-75 is the average per division when they graduate.

Not sure of the number in the ship.  The "ship" is actually the barracks they are in.

Sippie:  Discussion groups up top for the subjects you mentioned are always great.  Like you said, suggestions tend to get lost in the pages here.
