Sippie: Obama is really going to be there???? I know this is a special weekend...being the 4th of July and the 100th anniversary...so that would be neat. But there was a rumor last year about this time that "Obama will be here" too. Didn't happen...but this yr, since the 7/1 PIR has been moved to a different location, maybe true??? I have no clue!
For those worried about divisions not working together....happens in every PIR group. Not to worry...they will all get it together. The RDCs know what they are doing! Just takes a while...sometimes all the way up to BattleStations!
Hi, Craig! Glad to see you helping out here!
Sunshine: Great job on the countdown clock! :-)
Yes, best to make reservations now since it is a holiday weekend. If you plan to drive to PIR (i.e., don't need the PIR shuttles), you may found more availability a little ways away from the base as far as larger suites. I believe there is a Residence Inn that is about 8 miles from the base....so for those of you needing more space, check further out.
katie'smom: You will like Residence. We enjoyed our stay there. Bring your pets if you drive...because they are pet friendly!
WOOHOO, Connie, on your chocolate weight loss!
BluAnjel: Remember, bootcamp is an up and down emotional journey for them. If they write or call "in tears", there could be peace and laughter in the next moments.
Jesica, usually takes about 2 weeks after they arrive before they receive mail.
Connie: My exercise is for weight control too....my tush is not the smallest! :-)
I hope they let the SR's stay around for at least until Saturday so that they can enjoy some of the celebration.
Sippie, hopefully our girls are getting along!! :) haha - we all know how girls can be I guess, that's why I'm an engineer and work with a bunch of guys. They'll figure it out... my daughter said in her more recent letter to my mom (yah, Grammy got a letter before MOMMY!) that she's met some really cool people, so hopefully they'll start to get the hang of it. I'm glad they have church services, that's good to hear - doubt if my daughter'd go, but one can keep hoping!! I know she's prayin' haha!
Dorie - you're right, i't's going to be a long 43 days, 17 hrs and counting (thanks MN for the counter!!!) I'm so glad we have this site to encourage one another and get news of our SR's and the Navy in general.
BTW - does anyone have an STG/STS (Sonar Tech, Surface/Submerged). My dtr is going to be STG... goes to A-School in San Diego. I think she'll love it out there, she's never been to Cali.
I'm glad to hear that everyone is starting to get letters so now I'm not only waiting for the phone to ring but now the days are going to drag at work until I can get home to see if I received any mail from her. This is going to be a long and stressful 6 weeks!!!! That's cool about Obama. I wondered if something special was going to happen since they kept insisting on only 4 people.
I hope the division starts working together because it is my understanding that is one of the important things about passing Battle Stations.
