Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by diannep on May 17, 2011 at 5:18pm: Ok, Lala. So, in college....I ended up losing like 10 lbs by eating chocolate and crackers on Fall. Well, not together...but I was "in love" (with my future hubby)...and between classes, studying, jogging, and seeing him...no time to eat! So grabbed M&Ms and packaged crackers...on the run...until my roomie brought me healthier food from the cafeteria and sat me down one night to make me eat it before she allowed me to "run off"!"

So...see? You CAN lose weight on junk food...ok, so maybe only if you are YOUNG which I am NOT anymore....not to mention how unhealthy it was (but it was short-term!). But it was kinda fun!

Connie: Now...won't that break your teeth if you eat it FROZEN? I mean..shouldn't you have hidden it in the frig..behind the brocolli so you KNOW no one will find it?????

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on May 17, 2011 at 3:38pm: I hope you all are writing lots and lots of letters. Write every day if you can. You can send letters in pretty much any normal size envelope. They say not to send anything that will draw attention to your Sailor like drawing on the back of the envelope or spraying with perfume for you wives and girlfriends lol. I sent a letter every day and wrote about everything from what the "terrible" neighbors were doing, to what the pets were doing. I even sent a letter from our cat to her. It was so funny and she loved it. They don't care what you write about as long as you write. Even those who said before they don't care about mail will change their mind and love hearing their name called at mail call. You can send a few pics preferably 4X6 or you can even print them on the back of your letters. No naughty pics allowed. Space is a concern so you can even send a bigger envelope for them to send their letters back to you for safe keeping. You can send self-addressed stamped envelopes, you can print labels with addresses of the people your SR writes to and send those as well as return address labels with your recruits address on them. All of this will save them time and give them more time for writing. When it gets close to PIR you can send their contacts and a small bottle of solution and some basic make-up for the girls. We even sent a hair straightener and hair-dryer that she asked us to send. They will only be allowed to use these items for pictures and PIR but they are allowed to receive them. The best way to send them is in a Priority flat rate box or bubble envelope sent Priority mail. They will have to open them in front of the RDC so don't send anything else. Most recruits will call or write and tell you what to send.
