Sippie - Why not go?  You could liven up an already special PIR!  They do have hospitals in the Chicago area.  [smile]  It is possible that the emotionality and excitement of the occasion just might send you into labor...  I guess it is best that you stay home :-<  I think it is great that you are so close with your stepchild.  Kudos to you.

Sippie- I am sorry you won't be able to make it to PIR but I must say that is the best reason I have heard yet for net being able to go. So much excitement in your house :-)

I just wanted to say Hi to all of you. I am a veteran mom here to offer my support and help answer questions. My daughter left for boot camp last year, May 25th and had PIR July 23. She is now an AO and is finished with A-school and C-school and is based in VA. She got engaged right after boot camp and got married during A-school. Her husband left 4 days later for boot camp. He is now also finished with school and is an IT. I will say that I never could have imagined how much could change in 1 very short year. Right now I am sure you feel like boot camp will never end but it will go by much faster than you ever thought possible and before you know it you will be packing and on your way to PIR. We stayed at the Navy Lodge, and went to Gurnee Mills Mall after PIR. She was a "Grad & Go"/ Saturday departure and left on a chartered flight. Many of my friends call me Lala, I am from NC and on N4M's I am known as the Ribbon Queen lol. If you haven't already started stalking your mail "person" you will soon lol. Welcome to all of you if you have any questions at all please ask, one of us (veteran moms) will do our best to answer all your questions. Feel free to send me a friend request on here or an email to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com   Thanks and Welcome, Lora aka Lala

Congruatualtions, Sippie!  Sounds like we may have to provide you with a play-by-play.  Sounds like your SR will have guests at PIR though?

Wow sippie, are u going to be able to make it? Kinda bummed about the 4 guest thing myself..... at least me, my son, and my folks will ne able to attend. My dad is so proud of my dtr carrying on the military tradition in our family - he was in the Army in Vietnam in the 101st, and my brother was also in the army (before desert storm, tho). My brother really wanted to attend as well.

Be REALLY cool if the Blue Angels did a fly over, as they'll be in Battle Creek, MI on July 2-3 (and I'll be in Chicago!!!) :-)  Looks like they have a pretty busy show schedule, though:  http://www.blueangels.navy.mil/show/

Looking forward to seeing you all in a couple months!  MN - bring some of that sunshine with you :)

This is an official post from the Recruit Training Command (RTC) website from yesterday (5/12/2011).

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command We need to stress to this group that the guest policy is different for this group than it is for other graduating groups.

Each recruit will be allowed to invite four guests. Children do count against the four-guest maximum. ADDITIONAL GUESTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE CEREMONY!

While other graduating groups may have additional guests attend the ceremony as additional space is available, the July 1st group will not be allowed ANY additional guests. This is firm. We repeat: NO ADDITIONAL GUESTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE CEREMONY.

This graduation is the centennial celebration of Naval Station Great Lakes 100 years of training Sailors at Great Lakes and the ceremony will be held outdoors.

Again, only the guests whose names are on the access list will be allowed to attend the ceremony. This includes children. Four guests only.

It is imperative that you communicate with your recruits as to which four guests' name will be on the access list. Only your recruit is allowed to make any changes to the access list, and the deadline for them to do so will be at least a week prior to graduation.

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command We'd also like to stress that recruits will not be allowed to add another recruit's guests to the access list. This practice is always highly discouraged anyway and it has caused difficulties with family members unable to get into the ceremony because their recruit listed another recruits guests' names instead.

Received letter yesterday...thank goodness.  Excited about PIR being 7-1-11.  Thanks for starting this group and thanks you BluAnjel for the division group.

It is too bad that you can't take extra guests but I bet it will be an awesome PIR. I bet the Blue Angels will be there too. That should be a real exciting celebration.
