i have to say, that it sounds like waiting for the "I'm a sailor" call is nerve racking. I feel so bad for the mom who got the call "mom, dont come yet for gradation. I didnt pass my test. Wait until I call you." OMG that would kill me. I can totally feel what she was feeling. Her boy sounds much like mine and it would kill me to hear that in Cory's voice. With him being on light duty I am TERRIFIED he wont graduate with his group and we wont be able to go to his graduation. I dont even really know what light duty is except he said he can't march with his DIV. I so hope he doesnt get set back because of this. Im terrified ladies!

I saw those piks too, theraysmom.  Beautiful.  The PIRs are usually inside the PIR drill hall (yours will be). but being the 100th yr celebration for that Naval Base, they had this special celebration outside for this group since it is Jul 4th weekend.

Glad you enjoyed reading PIR 7/8's posts about getting the call.  It is truly a very exciting day...some even take off from work to wait for "the call"!  For any who want to read the posts from the 7/8 ladies, I posted the link to the group a few posts below this one. They had 4 divisions go through last night.  Their Captains Cup is tomorrow, an exciting day for the SRs and new sailors!!
