Those not sent to A school usually go the street the day of PIR.  The rest usually go out Saturday morning but not always.  Orders can change several times right up to the day of PIR.  My son was originally told that he would have to wait 8 days and go out with the next PIR group. He PIRed on 7/22/11 he said that all but a few got their final orders the Thursday before PIR,including him and he did get to depart on the day after PIR .

My son was great.  He wrote everything down about his departure. Terminal, airline, time, time bus was leaving for airport.  If you get a chance to talk to your SR/Sailor again before PIR ask them to do that for you, it really is helpful.

@andrewsmom, it's not by Div that they ship out, it's by person, only your SR will know when HE leaves.

Ok so can i freak out on u all for a min. I know that several have told me their SR has told them when they are shipping out, and i have had this discussion many times, cause i just keep hearing diff things. My sister and brother inlaw are driving me up for PIR 8/5 of course im paying for the whole trip. Well I told them that if my SR didnt leave sat. that i would want to stay another night so as to have as much time with him as i can. Someone told me not to worry that they would ship him out early sat morning, I got a letter in from my SR he said when he gave me "THE" call that he would know then. Well the trip im paying for my sis n bro inlaw has decided no matter what we are leaving sat afternoon. So as bad as it sounds i pray that they are leaving early sat, cause leaving him at the airport i could handle, having 8hrs with him but leaving him b4 that plane ride and i think i might loose it, so if you hear when 3/249 is leaving for pensecola please let me know
