12 days ladies!! He called yesterday and I almost missed the call-I was leaving and came back in the house for a minute when the phone rang!! I was SOOOO happy that I did not miss his call! He will be going to Japan after A school-he is very excited!! His best friend is in Okinawa so he hopes to meet up with him at some point. He said 3 others are going too-different ships but same area-he will be on a destroyer but couldn't remember the name (typical for him to forget details!). He wants to see the world so I am excited for him! He will get to come home we think after A school.

I think the hardest part is going to be the deployments. On surface ships there is email and they port fairly often so you can even get phone calls... not so much on submarines. :o/ We'll figure it out though!!

That's awesome that he's excited. I KNOW I couldn't do it. Course claustrophobia would be why LOL I think Cory couldn't deal with not seeing daylight for so long. Its definitely good for some and not so much for others. ;-)

He's actually really excited about it! I could never do it though, that's for sure! There are some definite perks and downfalls to the deployment schedule but all I can do is focus on the good parts. :o)

Thanks Tonya. How does your hubby feel about sub life? They offered that to Cory and he didnt think it was something he would/could do.

Sydney, battlestations can be 2 - 8 days before PIR but Captains Cup is always the Saturday before PIR. Hope that helps!
Comment by CorysNavyMom (Ship 11 Div 243) on July 22, 2011 at 10:19pm
correct me if Im wrong. Doesn't Captain's Cup come AFTER Battlestations? If they run battlestations through Thursday the 4th how would they participate in Captain's cup if its the last thing they do?
Comment by diannep on July 22, 2011 at 9:56pm
Yes, you all can post BattleStations dates on this site....that was a FB request, not a N4Moms request as far as not posting dates.  Please do post so that we can have a complete schedule up top!

Hey all,

The 1st days of boot camp are now long over, and Battle Stations is almost here...

I know dianeep-veteran has this listed above in the ^^^^^^BATTLESTATIONS^^^^^ discussion, but, for the newbies if you want to see what your sailors are about to do, please go look at this PDF file.

It can be found at:

~ Boot_Camp_For_Dummies ~

Secondly,

Since boot camp is almost done, I would like to invite those with sailors in the CT rating (CTI, CTR, CTT, CTN, CTM), going to PENSACOLA Florida or Monterey California, to please stop on by and learn more about what CT's actually do... Heck, we even talk about the IT rating too....

For all CT ratings:

For even more specialized information, I highly recommend these links:
