Im so bummed that the RTC  facebook is not posting random pics.  When my son was there I caught him in a randon pic and I had it printed, they were getting pics taken with their whites on and I printed it in black and white, it was so cool.  i mailed him one and it totally freaked all the guys out. Like how did I get that!  It was such a cool pic that I now have it 8x10 and on my wall.  I really hate to see that go bye-bye :(.

I got 2 letters today! Yay!! Sounds like Hell week was tough. Lots of inspections and he finally got over the pink eye and cold..that is a blessing. They must of gotten their military ID's which he as excited about. They are all trying real hard to get along together and listening better. They have drill inspections this week and Wed of this week they had exam 2 which they have to do good...Said last two-3weeks are gonna be tough and busy..Sounds like things are starting to wrap up for the big day -graduation which they all are ready for as we are!! Cant wait to see them all...My they will have all changed...for the best!! Hope these days go fast for them..and they do well.

I got a letter today and he said he has only gotten 2 letters from me, but I've sent 9.  He's gotten several from his dad, grandma, brothers & sisters - not sure why mine aren't getting through.  I always check the address and if I have the slightest doubt that the envelope is over an ounce I put two stamps on just to be safe.  Sounded like parts of Hell Week were pretty rough.  It should be over now?  If anyone hasn't read the "A MUST Read for All New Navy Parents" posted on the Navy Dads website its definitely worth reading.  It made me feel better about the whole boot camp experience and helped me realize the difficult things he's written about are pretty standard.  Since I'm one of the worlds best worriers, it helped put things in perspective for me.  These last 19 days can't go by fast enough!

anyone know if div 286 earned phone calls this week?? I always keep my phone handy but want to know if I should expect a call today or if they didn't pass inspection to earn one.....

cvargo, I am so glad you like it. Wait until you see them in person. The pictures do not do them justice. I think I need to rent some photo equipment for taking pics of jewelry. Maybe then the picture would look almost as nice as the ribbons. :-)

Liberty is ‘time off’ from the daily routine. Graduating Sailors will be granted liberty to go off-base during the day with their families.

  1. Graduating Sailors may not smoke, drive, or consume alcoholic beverages while on liberty.
  2. Graduating Sailors must stay within a 50-mile radius of RTC.
  3. Graduating Sailors must remain in their complete uniform while on liberty. If they are engaging in physical activity or swimming, they must be in authorized Navy issued workout gear.
  4. Recruits reporting to A School at Training Support Center Great Lakes will detach from RTC on Friday. All other recruits will depart on Saturday. To get the most accurate information please contact your recruit.
  5. Families may not enter the base after graduation and will need to meet graduating Sailors for liberty at the main RTC gate.
  6. Graduating Sailors departing RTC for follow-on training the same day as graduation or in a duty status will be granted limited on-base liberty.
  7. Graduating Sailors receive an in-depth liberty briefing prior to their graduation day.
