Proud AV Mom:  Just remember...their travel plans can change which is what happened in the Memorial Day group (also PIRed on Thurs).  Some were to fly out on Fri, but found out Tues of that week that they had weekend liberty up there.  So-- hope that all famlies plan to stay through the weekend just in case!

I just got off the phone with PA, and she said that the "rule" is they fly to their A-school regardless of the holiday, so if they grad on Thursday, they'll fly out on Friday, BUT the only one who knows for sure is your SR, so write them and ask them to let you know as soon as they find out, what their liberty schedule will be. As far as allowing more then the 4 on the list to watch the ceremony, they will have to wait until all others are seated then, IF there is room, they may come in.

Towermom, I am the one who makes the  ribbons to wear to PIR and/or the Meet and Greet. They are a great way to show your pride for your Sailor and they make it easy to recognize other Navy for Mom members who are in your DIV. They also make a great keepsake and many people order an extra one for their scrapbook. My actual website is still under construction but you can send me a friend request on this site and I will send you all the info you need for placing a ribbon order. You can also send me a regular email to my email address: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com and I will send the info to your email address. Here is a pic of what the ribbons look like and you can see more pics on my page here on N4M's or on my FaceBook page Unique Memory Makers. Thanks so much, Lala

Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons - I am assuming you are the one some people have talked about that you make ribbons for PIR dates?  Can you send me your website?  I would like to purchase for my sons PIR

I hope you guys are writing lots and lots of letters. Write every day if you can. I know sometimes it is hard to think of things to write about. I told my Sailor everything that was going on in the neighborhood and kept her up to date on her friends through her facebook page. I even had her friends all post comments to her on her facebook page or in a message to me and then I copied and pasted it to word and mailed it all to her. I did that 3 or 4 times while she was at bootcamp. I also sent her a letter from the cat which was hilarious (we had put him on a diet because he was and still is HUGE and he told her we were rationing his food and he didn't have the endless supply since she left and he knew she liked shoes but what kind of company makes you go to camp just to get a pair of boots? She has lots of boots and how could she just leave him here lol) She loved it. She said she was laughing so much she had to let her bunk mate and a couple other girls read the letter as well.

Also, ask your recruit if they have any friends who are not getting letters from home. There are several of us on here who are willing to write letters to recruits. Getting mail is like Christmas and is the highlight of every day for them. So keep those pens and pencils flowing.
