~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Denyse P - If it happens he isn't arriving at the airport until the 2nd wave (5:30am) and his flight isn't until later maybe someone wouldn't mind "passing" his items to him.  My SR is flying to Pensacola also and we aren't leaving until 5:30 on Sat from Midway.  We are staying at the Navy Lodge - so if necessary and all "stars" align and we need to, I don't mind getting him his things.  Another option would be Sarge if he is going that way and wouldn't mind finding your Sailor.  He's good about that kind of stuff

Friends,

This scripture is so appropriate for the Battlestations that your SRs will be going through soon.  Perhaps you can share it with your SR in a letter now.

       "Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

        I have summoned you by name;  you are mine.

        When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

        and when you pass through the rivers,

        they will not sweep over you.

        When you walk through the fire,

        you will not be burned; the flames

        will not set you ablaze.  For I am the Lord,

        your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior..."

                                                      Isaiah 43:1b-3a

Hello All!!

      "Your Word is a lamp to my feet

       and a light to my path.  I have

       sworn and confirmed that I will

       keep Your righteous judgments."

Good Morning!

DenyseP:  You can actually meet him at the airport very early in the morning....like around 3 or 4 a.m.  You could give him his phone/etc then.  That should leave you plenty of time to get to your own flight.  If he happens to leave from OHare and maybe about 8 or earlier in the morning, you should be able to wait until he departs and then still have plenty of time to make your flight from Midway.  If Midway, obviously no issues!  The airports are about 30 minutes apart from each other.

Comment by Denyse P. on August 25, 2014 at 2:33pm

I may be overthinking this for nothing, but here goes: Our SR is in ship 04 Div 0287.  We would love to see him at the airport on his way to A-school in Pensacola so that we can hand off his cell phone and laptop.  However, our flight home departs Midway at 12 pm on the 13th.  If his flight is departing from O'Hare, I don't see how we'll have time to meet up with him.  Of course, at this time, I don't know which airport he's departing from.  If it is Midway, then this is a non-issue.  I worry too much!
