OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ladies, we are not allowed to post actual BattleStations dates on here for a particular division, until they have competed them.  So if you posted a specific date for your division, can you please click on the "x" and delete your comment?  Thanks.  We used to be able to discuss the dates on here and I even posted schedules in the discussion group before they went through....but about 3 yrs ago, RTC asked us to treat those dates like "ship movement when deployed" which can't be discussed until after the fact...so we now can only private message the dates.

Lisa:  My son's division was Hall of Fame when he was there.  They got an extra hour of Liberty Fri night.  Hall of Fame is the highest flag honor they can get!

Those who missed their BattleStations due to not passing their final PFA still have time to pass and be at PIR, so keep praying!  They can pass up until Wed of next week and still be at PIR!

Congrats to the new sailors of 291-294!  Tomorrow is Captains Cup for all divisions in this PIR group.  Lots of fun athletic competition for them!
