~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

PrayingNavyMomsHusband, thank you so much! That is exactly what I needed to hear before going to bed for the night. I know that it is only 3 weeks in, and I was trying to tell myself that, but her letter to her grandma made me worry tonight. I won't mention it to her other than to remind her she is only 3 weeks in. Thank you again...
ktremom, if I may ask a direct question, does your SR generally stress over these kinds of things or is this out of character? At only 3 weeks in, it would seem too early to be worrying about this. From a long term career standpoint, the Navy will do everything in their power to make sure your sailor graduates BC. If for some reason they don't pass all requirements prior to their scheduled PIR, they typically go to one of the units in the Recruit Special Programs Division to hone the skills needed to pass. My understanding is that the only tangible impact of not graduating "on time" is that they wouldn't participate in a PIR ever, but they would simply complete their requirements, become a sailor and move on to their follow on school. Other than just the emotional disappointment, in my opinion it isn't a big deal. Your sailor is capable of more than they even can think of right now, I'm sure he or she will do fine, just keep praying and writing encouraging letters - also, please don't add any pressure of your own if they are already worried.
ok...need some encouragement. My SR is getting very concerned about graduating on time due to the tests. What happens if they don't pass their test in time for PIR?
Good idea, PrayingNavyMomsHusband! By the way, everyone, a person in last week's PIR group said if you take "41", there are no tolls.
For those of you driving to PIR, I just ordered an i-pass, automatic toll device from the Illinois Transit Authority. It allows you to just keep on cruising through the toll stations rather than have to pull off/slow down every few miles. The cost was $10 plus you have to put toll money in linked to a credit/debit card. It sounded like we may need every minute so this may give us an extra 30 minutes to an hour with SR depending on his flight schedule. Every little bit helps. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.illinoistollway.com/tolls-and-i-pass. If your SR has A school in Great Lakes as well you may find this very useful.
Flight and hotel booked.. I just can't wait to see my Sailor.. A phone call this weekend and a letter would be nice too. Ship 12 Div 360 moms, my SR said on Tuesday he had not received any of the 10 letters we have sent. Hope they start getting mail soon. I think that would help lift their spirits.
Thank you CatMom509 :)
