~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi everyone I am one of the volunteers here to help you through this experience :) I know how hard this is for so many of you. And as hard as it is to believe the boot camp time will pass pretty quickly. I always say the days drag by but the weeks pass quickly. I was a mess when my daughter was there. I didn’t have much time to prepare as she was only in DEP one month and then she was gone. I was always wondering what she was doing and how she was. But it all turned out great and it is so hard for me to believe it has been more than three years. Now she is a Sailor and is married to a Sailor and they just had their first baby/my first grand baby :) She was born July 24th and I was there when she came. She is simply perfect and has already stolen my heart. :) After three years on this site I am still here helping others get through this experience and I love it. If you have any questions or concerns please just let us know and please feel free to send me a friend request if you like. I am happy to help in any way I can.
Good Morning!
So for the past weekend I have been gathering all sorts of Navy and Boot camp info. I just wrote a letter to my son and he will probably be amazed at everything I have learned this week. I no longer have to refer to Battlestations as " that last test you have to do on that boat" Much appreciation to all the veteran moms who have provided all this helpful information.
DeAnn: PIR should have between 850-1000 sailors at it!
DeAnn, The number of recruits in a division can vary from approx 75-100 and that number can change up and down during BC. Brother divisions are pretty close in numbers. There are some that have resumed training and placed back in a division, some are taken out of training for injury or more instruction (asmo'd), and some will be separated.
J's wife. I've been through this before with my son and I was just as impatient then waiting for mail.....lol. We actually got a call from our SR this past Saturday, so that was better than a letter :)
We also got a 20 minute phone call from our daughter on Saturday! Ship 03 div 353. All female ship/div. She gave us so much info and said she is having so much fun and the food is great and she eats so much she thinks she's gaining weight.....lol!! Her bunk mate is Courtney and they are becoming great friends. Was great to hear her voice and to know she is ok and loving it. She cried at first, but she said they were happy tears. I didn't cry until we hung up and they were happy tears.
Congrats to all who got calls and hang in there for those who didn't. They will be coming. Just keep your phone with you always! This was actually pretty early compared to when my son was in boot camp. He had to wait 4 weeks to get a call. If you see are code 847 and Waukegen, answer it :)
Navy mom strong and Navy mom ((((hugs)))) to all.
