N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Stacie....maybe they will not notice. Not sure if that will cause an issue. When did you get the form letter? I'm still waiting.

I accidentally wrote SN instead of SR on his letters. Will he get in trouble for that?

Comment by Michelle_TJsMom on July 30, 2013 at 3:45pm

My husband and younger sons got the box today.  I was sad because I was not there, but in the end it turned out to be perfect for our younger boys.  They were the ones that got to open the box of all his things and go through it.  It meant so mych to them.  My middle son said "mom, the only missing is SR" (he said his name but I know we shouldn't post that alot).  Just brought so much joy to me!  Even though they are sad, they got to have this memory.  Now, only waiting on form letter so we can start making plans and mailing our letters!  51 Days!!!

sorry bm826, my son's plane was delayed as well, luckily he left on a Monday, so it didn't change his PIR date.

Remember when you are looking/booking a hotel be sure and call the hotel directly and tell them you are coming for a Navy graduation. Most of them have a grad rate that is different than the online rates. Do check AAA there price can be lower than the grad rate at times.

The Navy Lodge has a grad rate of $66 or $67 a night I believe, and diannep has more info on other hotels in the area.

I did look at the reviews and yeah....some good some bad... but the price was good and it offers shuttle service so I decided as long as the sheets are free of bedbugs then I'm cool. Afterall, we will only be sleeping there since we will most likely go out and enjoy ourselves the rest of the day!

Knicky, You might want to take a look at the Ramada's reviews. We have heard both good and bad about that hotel.

Already book my flight and hotel. I am staying at the Ramada Inn, anyone else planning on staying there? I know they do a meet and greet but I wont be there till 6pm so I hope that isn't too late.

Hi Prayingnavymom!  I had guestimated 9/20 so I was already mentally prepared (or as good as it can get).  My middle son graduates BC 8/23, so we will have back to back trips to Great Lakes.  We get to take 4 guests to the 8/23 PIR so I am hoping and praying that we don't have to reduce this to 3 for the 9/20 PIR.
