For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Dee on September 6, 2012 at 4:50pm: My daughter carries one of the flags. I'm guessing she is one of the SRs carring a flag on the fb page. Her hair was really short when she left, so I'm thinking the SR that is my daughter is in the forefront of the photo with the flags. It's hard to recognize her without her makeup and hair done up. Just got a ltr from her that said she works in the Chaplain's office and misses things going on with the div. She has to play catch with no practice she says, but is able to keep up and passing all tests. Her dad will be home from the middle east Sun and is traveling to her graduation with me. She is so proud of her country and to be wearing a uniform representing the Navy. She said it sometimes brings tears to her eyes she is so proud. I told her we will have tears also watching all the wonderful ceremony of PIR and especially her participation. She asked for more blank envelopes and stamps. They have not as of her letter been to the NEX. In one of the pics it looked like they had bags from shopping the NEX. But I am sending envelopes and stamps anyway. Isn't it great that our SRs can actually write letters instead of typing texts all the time.
