I got my first call since July 25th when she arrived at GL. It was good to hear her voice even though it was bad reception on my end. She seemed to be able to hear me so I did most of the talking. Her dad said she called him too.
That is so sweet zachsmom, sounds like he wants to make sure you are there :-)
They are allowed to have cash. Not sure if there is a limit on how much they can have after PIR but you may be able to deposit it in his bank account if you know what bank he is using. You don't need account numbers or anything to make a deposit just have his name and other info and they will get it in his account.
The long weekend is coming to an end "sigh" I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent the whole weekend alone. My hubby and son were away on a fishing trip and it was way too quiet here. I will be so glad when they get home tomorrow night :-) I am sure your recruits were happy to get an extra "holiday" routine this weekend. And hopefully that means extra letters coming this week. Just remember everything will be delayed a day because of the holiday.
Just checking in!! anyone hear from their SR's over the weekend? I got a 60 second phone call Saturday night. He said he wanted to be sure I was @ his PIR and that he used Western Union and wired money home.... I BAWLED MY EYES OUT! We didn't ask him to do this, we DON'T NEED him to do this. He insisted we go and pick up the money. I plan on getting the money, but I will be giving it back to him @ PIR. Does anyone know if they can have cash on them?
Ladies...since the post was removed I am going to remove your well wishes as well...
Since the original post was removed I am going to make this a Generic Post about PFA and Swim completion and the FIT DIVISION.
On a personal note for anyone...I am sorry that your SR is having a rough go at it...unless he said something specifically...I wouldn't worry about the "unsaid".
The Prone Float is the part of the swim requirement that some struggle with. Recruits have up until Battlestations to accomplish all PFA and academic requirements to be able to participate in BS21, pass that and become a US Sailor.
diannep talked a little bit about FIT in a post below.
IF they do not pass their PFA or Swim requirement before BS21 starts for their TG (Training Group...remember, they train in Divisions/Brother Divisions...but the whole TG has the same PIR date. BS21 are done by Divisions though on different dates as they are not all on the same DOT)...they will go into the FIT DIVISION (they are removed from their current one) and will be worked with solely to get that. They will be given every opportunity to try and pass it and go through with the next available division (See Note below) for BS21..before their own PIR. RTC wants them to be able to stay on track.
When I say they go through with the next available division it could be: their ownf it has not gone through, another in their TG or even the night before PIR with the next TG if that is their first night of Divisions to go through. Sometimes the TG following will have their first set go through that Thursday before Captains Cup that weekend. If a recruit does this the night before their own PIR...they will graduate but most likely sit out on marching in and standing on the Drill floor...too tired. They sit in the stands...BUT they are Sailors!)
NOW, if they DON'T pass the requirement before their own original PIR date...they will stay in FIT until they do. I am hearing that they get 10-12 chances fr the run...not as sure on how the swim works. diannep might have more info as far as this.
Once they "get it" they will go through BS21 with the next available division...pass that and then prepare to go directly on to their A school...no PIR. BUT again...they are Sailors!
Those going over to the FB group....please be sure to stay on this group too! We N4Moms will be posting lots of good info up to PIR day, and answering questions here. You are encouraged to take this info back to the FB site, but encourage those ladies to stay on both sites.
We are also on Facebook - PIR 9/21/12 RTC Great Lakes. Join us there for more friendship and fun.
Thanks for that info, glad to see that they still get a chance to continue despite not passing the first or second time.
Kellie: The FIT DIVISION is for those who have not passed their final PFA....they are put in there to keep trying until they pass. Remember, the ships are the barracks and house lots of divisions. Those who do not pass their final PFA before their PIR will stay in FIT and keep trying. Once they pass, they do BattleStations and head straight to A School...no PIR.
Happy Labor Day all!
