NOT MUCH LONGER NOW :) Happy Sunday, hope are SR's are ready to write and they enjoy having tomorrow off too, I know they've earned it.
briana, I bet at least 80 other members in this group thought the same thing lol. It will fly by now :-)
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend. My hubby and son are gone on a Sword fishing trip so I am home alone. It is super quiet here. Using the time to get ahead on some things and busy, busy, busy turning my daughters room into a craft/business room. I think I could fill this room if it was 3 times bigger. So much stuff to finally get organized. It is quite an undertaking and packing up the stuff she left behind when she went away to college is making me miss her :( Have her and my Sailor girl gone makes me the only female living here and may I sure do miss them both.
Less than 3 weeks to go until PIR! :) So excited! Am I the only one who thought September was never going to come?! Haha
Good Morning!!!!
Good Morning all!
Oh...and I forgot something on a personal view.
I know that many members are most likely on FB (or any other forum etc). I know they have closed and secret groups...but I would use the same caution there. Sure, no one outside the group may view the posts...but all that are on it can. OPSEC is very real and is a way of life for servicemembers and their Families.
Personal example:
When my hubby was activated right after 9/11 (he is a reservist) he did not even know where he was going! In fact, his orders said something like "Site ##". He was never able to tell me the exact location. (You use an APO/FPO etc. when sending mail) I didn't really find out anything until he came home...6 months later. This last time I did know where he was but not when he was coming home. I had a month, but not an exact date. He wasn't able to tell me until he reached American soil...and even then I told no one the exact date...just the month.
A gentle reminder …
Please make sure you do not post remarks that your recruits make about the staff at RTC or their fellow recruits unless it is positive. The RDC's have a hard job of trying to build a cohesive team. We want to hear how your SR's are doing...funny things they say etc...but negative remarks could draw attention to them if the post is read. This site is viewable by anyone…they don’t have to be a member. I have seen on occasion that someone may read all along the 7 weeks and join the group on the last week of BC! They may be a part of your recruits Division as well as those who are already on here that you know have loved ones in the same division. Also, you don’t really need someone reporting negative info back to their own recruit. I have seen this when a comment was misunderstood and it was not fun.
One...this is common...and for some recruits may continue until the end of BC…but you will be amazed at how much change will occur after the fourth week for the better! Two, it is a personal vent between you and your recruit and should stay that way. (If you need to vent I would do so in a PM through the Inbox system here.) Three, it's not really our problem anymore...they have signed a contract as an adult and it is the RDC's job to instill order along with the Recruit Petty Officers...as well as a chance for your SR's to mature and grow.
So, just a caution for you all...not a slam. Want the best for you and your SR's.
Trixie: No gold....black or silver. Gold is for the officers.
Katie/mikeysmom: Although they may threaten to fail an entire division during BattleStations, we have never seen that...and I have been on this site since 2009! They will fail individuals though....for falling asleep....and other more severe things. But if they do, they get to go through again and should pass. So .... no worries!
