WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yea! I got three letters today.  One was returning all the letters I had written her because she was running out of room. One had two boot camp questionnaires that I sent four weeks ago.  It seems she is friends with the daughters of behindthechair and linnymom.  They were 4-1 DOT on August 28th. The Marlinspike was August 27th.

Here's a question for the veteran members if you know the answer. If the SRs are receiving/wearing the National Defense Service Ribbon, is it appropriate for us at home then to display the Blue Service Star? Or is it more appropriate to wait until their first deployment?

yes candy, you are allowed to do both :-) I also suggest you order the PIR DVD. And don't get so busy video taping that you miss the ceremony :-) That used to happen to me when I taped the kids sporting events. I would have the camera pointed where I thought something was going to happen and missed a very important home run lol. Also sitting in the lower section will be better. If you sit up top you will most likely have the railing in your pictures and video.

are you allow to take pictures and or videos at pir?

Thank you sparkyjo and diannep. I found it and copied and will mail it out tonight.  In the middle of my daughter leaving and now, I had to get a new laptop.  Needless to say, a lot of time spent learning a new machine.  I also bought a new video camera to record graduation and trying to figure out the ops on that instrument. Did anyone say this this has been stressful getting thru boot camp?  I feel as if I have contributed stress along with my daughter in this situation. If only life were easy....
