WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hey Rox, got a letter today. My SR a hoot and a half!!! He says he is having a "pretty good time" and getting stronger every day. They got their dress whites the other day and he assures me, that he makes "this stuff look good!!" Who's child is this??? Yikes. He likes the food, the people and is taking his lumps and learning from his mistakes... not ONE single negative comment... oh, and he loves and misses us and. can't wait to give me a HUGE hug when he sees me!!

Thanks Dianne...I knew it was for bedding and gear...but had no idea what it stood for...and my husband was in the Navy for 12 years!!!!  An acronym that slipped through the cracks :-)

Regalilly:  DMI=Departmental Material Inspection

An inspection of bed making, folding, and stowing of gear.  Sounds like he is doing great.

Yes, your SRs are right at the point in bootcamp where it gets much better for them (around training week 4).  They don't get yelled at as much and have the end in site!  So you should see more positivity now in letters/calls!

Letters from my SR yesterday...passed PI and DMI (????) with no exceptions!  Said it's starting to get "easier" now that he knows the game.  He says that some people still aren't getting it so they still get yelled at quite a bit...but he's been able to get to a place where he can let it slide off his back.

These two letters sounded much better...much more positive...makes this mom much more relaxed.

Good morning family! No letter in the mail for me last night. So give me some updates on your SRs, no matter what division. I want to hear how they are doing! Who's passing, who's not, positions, what they miss, all of it! :) Hope you have a happy and safe weekend. 02/945

Good Morning Ladies.  Thanks for the prayers, Lala!  Still watching that storm!

Can't blame her there, love my wheat thins :-)

Still no phone call, but I did get three letters today.  She had the bottom two wisdom teeth removed but enjoyed sleeping for three days of recovery.  She likes her bunkmate and the others.  She misses Mexican food, Subway, and sweet tea.  She wants me to bring back everthing that was sent home in the box and some Wheat Thins.

I want all of my southern friends to know that I have you all in my thoughts and prayers. And my hubby is praying for you all even more than me. He and my son are supposed to leave here on Wednesday to come to New Port Richey for a Sword Fishing trip and it is NOT looking too good. I was supposed to come with them but have to sub so I won't be coming. And now, it looks like they may not be coming either. Fingers crossed that it fizzles out and goes away with little to no damage to anyone in it's path.
