WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Well go a 2nd letter today, my SR sounds well. He told us more about his Yeoman job and said he marches out front so we will see him during PIR. He said he found out he will not be going over seas for at least 4 years, he is really bummed as he picked the Navy over the airforce to travel the Atlantic and go over seas. But he did not say what he would be doing or where he would be going. He said it had something to do with a question he answered 2 years ago when he signed up for late entry in high school. So....Otherwise did sound like he got my first letter finally, as he answered a question. He said it was all ok and they only had 26 days of actual training left. Hope you all are getting letters. I am looking forward to getting there and seeing my boy. Who I am sure is now a Man. Hope you all are having a great day.

One thing they can take back to base with them is a watch. It should be silver or black or a combination of the two. No yellow gold, that is reserved for officers (except for wedding bands) They can also have a crucifix. I got one for my Sailor as a going away present and she was able to keep it at bootcamp because it was a religious medallion. The one I bought had Jesus on an anchor for the cross. It was beautiful. It does need to be small than the dog tags so keep that in mind if you buy one. There are thousands of them online ranging from less than $20 to $1000.00's Just do a search for mariners crucifix. It would also need to be silver in color.

Thanks Kelli, I will look to see if they have room.  That is definitely within budget.

12/305 -cheap gift idea- how about a gift certificate stating a care package of Homemade baked goods of his choice each week throughout A school! Not what u would not have sent any, just let's him pick and know its coming. Then again if he is a nuke, that is a lot of baking!

We are staying at the motel 6.  49.99 a night, all we basically need is a bed and shower :)  That was the cheapest but still decent that we could find.  It's it Waukeegan

Thanks Lala...I did ask my SR last night and I guess he just sent it.
