WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The letter to my Sailor from our cat was hilarious. Our cat is huge and needs to loose some weight and when our Sailor was home she was in charge of feeding him. She kept the bowl full all the time. I talked to the vet and had "special" food and was measuring out what he could have twice a day. The cat "Shadow" was not happy with his rations and kept going to my Sailors bedroom door begging for food. So the letter told her that since she left we have been starving him, that we don't understand his needs and she needs to get back here or at least talk some sense into us. He went on to say that he knew she was all grown up and needed to spread her wings like "Charlie" (our bird) but he couldn't understand why she left him behind with people who won’t take care of him and his needs. And, he knows how much she loves shoes but did she really need to go to camp in a foreign state just to get some boots? They do sell those at the mall right? lmao it was the funniest letter and she loved it hahaha

Hi Whitneys mom....will definitely pass on your thanks in next letter....tonite! So glad she is feeling better. That is terrific news as is the news about Kim doing great and is sector leader. Thank you for sharing....we wait for any bit of info!

Whitney's Mom- Congratulations on the good news.  It will help you feel relieved I'm sure knowing she is on the mend.  It is really hard to be far removed from your daughter during her illness and not being able to do anything to help her.  But rest assured the military takes care of it's own and it sounds like Kimberly is a true friend. Sleep well tonight.

I sent letters from my cats once that said nothing but meow, then I drew three different paw prints for their signatures.

We had a tree in the front yard that had to be bolted (trunk splitting), so I wrote the letter telling him about it what we did from the trees point of view even signed the letter Love, Frankenmaple. The letter I sent the next day was from my point of view explaining how stubborn the tree was in letting us fix him etc.

There are so many things you can write about. Just keep writing ladies they love getting mail all the time!!!!!!

Other-mom-2-ship2 div 945.....I asked Whitney how Kimberly was doing and she said she is doing great. She was chosen as a section leader and is doing a great job. Please let her know in a letter how much I appreciate her kindness to my daughter. What a blessing she has been. Also, I just sent you a friend request.

Hey There Moms. Good News tonight. Whitney is felling better every day. She is still in the hospital but hopes to be back at BC by end of week. They think she was week from the 17 vaccinations she received and then got some sort of bacterial infection and her body couldn't fight because of her weakened state. They are still running some more tests but right now everything looks to be improving. I'm so glad she is on the mend. It has been truly difficult being all the way over here and not be able to be there with her. I appreciate all of you so much.

I got a letter from my son last Thursday and his girlfriend did too.  One of the things he said was that he wished he could get letters every day.   So I say - keep writing - I tell my son about all the mundane things that happen each day - because I know to him, these are treasures.  Keep writing Moms, Wives and Girlfriends - and everyone.  Can't wait until 9/21!

KellieW- good post about mailing letters.  I send one every day and wondered if my daughter is getting tired of hearing from me. :)  I think at this point, it's mail and she knows I'm thinking of her.  I'm going to be sure and ask her about others that might need some encouragement.

KellieW...thanks for posting that...no, you can NEVER write too much...they live for it. You can get the names from your recruit of those that don't receive mail and write them as well.
