WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

No letter today

Comment by Dee on August 14, 2012 at 11:13am

My daughter Allie is in S2 D945.  Haven't received the first letter yet either.  I live in Arizona so I think when you all start getting your letters it will be maybe one more day for the arrival of mine.  Went thru her backpack today.  Just couldn't face it til now.  It was interesting to see what she had packed in it. My husband is in the Middle East and I have access to his phone there.  I have conference calling on my phone.  When Allie calls, depending on the time here and where he is, I will conference call him into our conversating if there is time.  I use conference calling to connect with family and friends to give updates all at one time.  Of course, everyone is asking have you heard anything yet?  I know the first 3 weeks are the hardest and that will soon be over for all of them.  My husband will be arriving to attend the graduation ceremony.  So glad this worked out.  Having been a military family all my life, sometimes things don't work out as planned.  Great to read all your input.  I got a late start into connecting with this site but I think I'll use it more often then not for sure.

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Im hoping all those Sunday letters show up for all of us today!! I keep looking at the day by day site and thinking how will they all get thru this..If i could just remind my son about something it would go well..hahah..soo i know the "such a mom" feeling also. But im thankful that week three brings me no calls from sick bay or failures...I love we are all supporting each other and soo glad we all have this site and the one on FB.

I love reading everyone's comments.  I check in here all of the time.  Makes me feel closer to my son.  I'm always wondering, what is he doing now?  What is he eating?  Is he sleeping well?  Such a mom.....

It's an industry phrase :) I am a stylist and that is where I stand all day haha
Thanks for the input! Going to call my dad right now! Wanted to hear from you ladies first! :-) I will probably cry just as much hugging you all on PIR day lol!

Good Morning everyone.

bhindthechair!  Hmmmm....interesting screen name!   I think that is a great idea to forward your phone when you know you can't answer it.  Might confuse your daughter when her grandpa answers, but I'm sure his voice will be music to her ears too!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on August 14, 2012 at 6:33am

Kellie, I hope you get that call when you are not at work but it sounds like a good idea to me as well ;-)

Some people have also changed voice mail to leave an encouraging message just in case. In the voice mail you can also tell them to try and call a different family member or try calling again:-)

Good Morning everyone.

Thanks for all the prayers. I appreciate it. Also, is there a mom on here with a daughter named Kimberly M in this group? Our daughters are going to Pensacola together and will have the same job there.  If so message me. Your daughter has been so good to Whitney while she was sick before she left for the hospital.

Comment by Dee on August 14, 2012 at 12:05am

Whitney's Mom - I know it must be difficult as a mother to not be with your daughter when she needs you the most.  You have to trust the doctors and staff will take very good care of your daughter and that she will have a speedy recovery.  My prayers are with you during your time of need. The phone calls will help bridge the gap while you are seperated.
