It will come, Alvarezmom. Remember, he is growing up and they are constantly telling them there that they are growing up and must stand on their own. They are also very busy right now...tired....a bit anxious...many probably not too happy this early in bootcamp. It is not an easy process.
Hang in there....you'll hear something soon!
Good morning all and have a wonderful Sunday!
Hi everyone, yes I am back lol. I will be in and out a lot. We were pretty busy all day and tomorrow we are having a going away party for our daughter. We will be taking her to UNC Wilmington next weekend. We are actually planning to have dinner in the Wrightsville Beach area On Saturday (8/18) with some other navy Moms that I have met on here and of course their husbands/families as well. So if anyone lives in that area that would like to join us please let me know.
My daughter was in the choir during bootcamp. It was AMAZING to hear her singing for all those people. I can't even explain the way it makes you feel :-) There are actually several different performing divisions that all rotate. One PIR date will have the band, choir and drill team and they are known as the triple Threat. The PIR performing division graduating the next week may be the Flag Corps and the week after that would be the Sailors who are the behind the scene workers and the side boys, and body snatchers. There are usually 3 performing divisions from 3 different PIR's all working together to put on the amazing show at PIR. So if your soon to be Sailor is in the band, choir, flag, drill, side boy etc you may be able to get a pic of them performing. They normally perform at the 2 PIR's before their on and perform at their own as well. You can join the two PIR groups before your own and ask them if they could please take a few pics and come back and post them. Let them know where your recruit will be, like choir, band, drill, state flags etc and that will make it easier for them. I was able to get a pic of my Sailor by doing that :-) And then you can do the same for the PIR performing divisions who have PIR the two weeks after yours. Let me know when you find out what your recruit will be doing during the performance. If you have any questions at all please let me know. I am happy to help. Here is a pic of my Sailor singing with the choir. She is the blonde to the right of the mic standing next to the guys..
Hey Rox, mine is in ship 4 div 303. Maybe if nothing else we'll be on the same flight if nothing else. Would love to visit at the airport. Have you gotten a flight yet.
Here is a Discussion I started about using devices other than a computer for accessing this site. I have posted how I use my Android and would love to get any input/questions added to it! Thanks for your help!
TIPS for Connecting up with N4M's with Smartphones, Tablets, and Ot...
I know we talked about the mail already and we are starting to see some early letters (YAY) but here is another short about it and a funny about my Hubby!
Your first letters won't start arriving for about three weeks after arrival at BC.
This is because they have to go through P days and then get settled into their Compartment. Also, an MRPO - Mail Recruit Petty Officer must be appointed, trained and pass a test that allows them to handle the mail as it is a Federal entity. This could take a week or so. They usually are not allowed to write that first Sunday after they arrive in their compartment..too busy and their is no Holiday time that first Sunday.
So, normally it is the second Sunday after they arrive in their Compartment that that happens.
Hang in there ladies and gents!
Here is a funny on that.
When my Hubby was in Iraq...the same thing happens...you can take the training and the test to go get your own mail...or some from your unit can do it for the rest...or you just get the mail the regular way I asume.
Well, hubs was very busy with his duties (he is an Senior NCO) and so did not bother with it...but some of his team did...and of course had to have some fun with it...so this was the result (even though he never actually took the test!) (The heart is mine though!)
...to all our new members!
in case anyone will arrive early for PIR or will be site seeing on Sat. There are fireworks at the Navy Pier every Wednesday and Saturday night.
We had 13 divisions and we brought 4 extras and they all got in :-)
