WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

MBMOM - At PIR your new Sailor will wear his stripes or "marks" on his sleeve. Three for E-3.
Seaman will wear dark blue on the dress whites. White on the dark blues.
Fireman - Red
Airman - Green
Constructionman - Light blue.
E-2's will wear two marks and E-1's do not wear marks.

Position is good! Not all of the recruits have a leadership position during BC...though enlisting as an E-3...he very likely may have one. (On a side note...until they actually become a Sailor...they are all considered "recruits". The ball cap they were for the duration of BC says "RECRUIT". They are exchanged for ones that say "NAVY" during the Capping Ceremony after BS21).
RDC's assign the positions...though I have heard that some are voted in. Some may get "fired" and replaced...or "rehired"for the positions or may retain them for the duration of Boot.

Thank you so much FTLW for all the info...I knew some of the protocol for sailor behavior..(like always being on the left side and PDA) because my dad was retired Navy...but there was so much that I didn't know. This information is wonderful. I am an informationaholic. I think BC has made me OCD...LOL. At least my husband thinks so! You are wonderful!!!

How do find out what position my son is..I know position is not the write word and I know one of you will tell me what the right word is (please) I do know that he is an E-3 which is an SN (Seaman) right? Thanks so much and again with out all of your help I would be totally lost. God Bless you guys/gals!

Mo'sMom: No problem with him going as an extra.  He may have to wait for a few minutes but should get into PIR.  YAH!

COC at RTC

Here is a chart of the COC at RTC (Chain of Command):

Click to open in another page and zoom.

Here is the link to RTC website that explains all the RPO positions (Recruit Petty Officers):

http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/recruit_petty_officer.asp

Here is a pic of a Collar Device(I belive there are a different number of Chevrons depending on their postition) that the RPO's wear:

On the Chart RCPO(Recruit Chief Petty Officer) = ARPOC, RLPO(Recruit Lead Petty Officer = AROC

But it is too hard to yell... "RRRRCPO or RRRRLPO get your ________ in here"...So ARRRRRRPOOOC and ARRRRROC it is.

These positions are just for the duration of Boot Camp

Mo'sMom - I bet you won't be all by yourself for long! Many times we have seen moms connect up on here! I will pray that is so for you!

Mo'sMom - How would you feel about asking your SR, in a couple weeks when things have gotten a little happier for them, if we could add my father to your guest list for PIR?

You can say no!

When I received the form letter, it showed 4 people listed and my father wasn't included. My SR would want him there more than anyone so what she did was gave me a hint and circled the areas that explain retired military not needing to be listed, they will automatically get a seat.  Sadly, she doesn't know that he served his time but didn't actually retire from the military.  I am just wondering if we can take one of your empty seats please? :)

Jenideer - YAY!! How exciting!! What day did your SR leave for BC???
