For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 09/21/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on September 16, 2012 at 8:54pm: sparkyjo: It is not so....they do not asmo entire divisions. And, yes, all 9 divisions are PIRing. Either some SRs/sailors got the info mixed up, or the RDCs were "messing with them!" :-) It is as ellen said...individuals get asmoed, not divisions.

Comment by Katie - Dan's Mom on September 16, 2012 at 7:59pm: My SR told me today that only 8 divs were PIRing on Friday. But after much discussion, I believe we all agreed that he must have been mistaken and that all 9 divisions will indeed be PIRing.

Comment by sparkyjo-PIR 09/21/12 Div 303 on September 16, 2012 at 6:55pm: I believe someone talked to their sailor who did BS Thursday/Friday, and he told her only 8 divisions were scheduled for PIR on 9/21. Now there is all kinds of speculating.

Comment by ellen0502 on September 16, 2012 at 6:38pm: I have never heard of a whole division being asmo'd especially after BS. Individuals may have failed and have to do it again. Even if an individual fails they try to give them another opportunity to run it again before PIR.

Was this information given by a "mom" who has a SR it the division that has supposedly failed and has heard from their SR directly? If not, I would say another rumor flying around FB. I am also curious about when that division ran BS, the last one would have been last Thursday-Friday I would think that there would be many by now that would know that had happened.

Comment by Sandra MM Nuke Mom on September 15, 2012 at 5:00pm: Received our "I'm a Sailor" phone call yesterday. We talked about 40 minutes. He then called his sister and talked for another hour! He said BS wasn't all that fun because he was so tired. But glad it's all over. Now they can chill in the rec room and play video games. Since they were done with all their tests and BS they are now allowed to buy anything at the "store", so he bought his Full Throttle Energy drink and sour patch kids. He's looking forward to starting Nuke A School Oct. 10th.
