I also ADDED links to the:
RTC Website
and to the info and links for the three different:
Meet and Greets
They are up above under the weather widget. The weather widget is interactive btw..I have a post for that too...but I think I'll wait as that is a lot on your page here right now! Just poke around on it...on Friday nights lately...when you refresh the page there are Fireworks! It usually reflects the true weather conditions...falling stars and baloons etc are added on though I think!
Folks, I am going to add some more discussions for you to browse through soon and read. I am also going to post how the Discussion Forum works.
-Discussion Forum Area
This is the place to start a Discussion about a topic and for your Division Discussions.
The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is at the maximum of twenty titles at a time. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator) I just set it that way so you all could see as much as possible! MLDD…you can of course adjust this anytime you like!
It is also set to show the "latest activity"(there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over twenty discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.
To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter or even a period and add the reply.
When you view a DF by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.

You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.
Since I "boo-booed" on the username and real name thing on FB...I don't know if you have a place to write a message in your request to join on a FB group...if you do, use that so Will Man's Mom knows who you are.
However, I know you will get folks that are only on FB want to join...and I know you will want to let them so they can get support. Just learn about OPSEC and PERSEC (personal security) and practice it. Invite them on over too!
The N4M's Community Guidelines have good general info on OPSEC... and article and video links about it to get you started.
That first real letter may take about three weeks after arrival...
They begin getting mail as soon as their Mail Petty Officer (the recruit assigned to collect and distribute mail), is trained. Because the mail is controlled by federal law, the MPO must complete a federal training course before s/he can handle the mail. Sometimes this takes a couple of weeks, but not usually more than three.
There first Sunday that they are allowed to write home is usually the second Sunday after they arrive in their Ship. So I am thinking that this next Sunday will be the first time for your recruits to write home.
I'm still waiting for my first personal letter too.
Duh, those would be your usernames here and your real names on FB...talking to Will Man's mom now...BUT at least you know how to view all the members LOL! ;-)
I just spoke with Sarge. He is so helpful! You should all call him and set up pick-up times from the airport or the train station because he charges half of what the other cab companies charge! Also he said a very helpful hint on another subject is to write your SR and have them set up for their grad pictures to be mailed home. He said you can stand in line for a couple of hours otherwise at PIR and waste valuable quality time together. Not to mention he has had families half way to the airport and they realize they left their photos in the hotel. :( We are planning on going to his meet and greet on the 20th, I hope to meet you all there!
This is the closed group that I have set up for us
https://www.facebook.com/groups/PIR.9.21.2012/
Remember it has just been born so it is really blank.
Diannep is right though. N4M is the ultimate resource for info and connections with other Navy families. But only if we continue to use it :-)
Yeah...we get lonely! LOL No, it is good that you set it up for yourselves...then you know who is asking to join from this site at least.
One way to see all the members of this group is to go to the bottom of the members Pictures and select "View All". Then you can go through the pages (the page numbers are displayed at the bottome left...or the "go" feature to the right) and view the members.
Here is the part of this page I am talking about:(view all is circled in red)
(click the pic to open in another screen and it will enlarge)
