Keep us posted on that Craig, my son is "on" the Kearsarge
MBMom - I actually am designing them for each ship. They sell generic RTC coins, but I wanted to give the sailors something they can actually remember.
You see that bridge on the Triton coin? Even though I haven't completed the Kearsarge, that bridge mean a lot to your sailor right now. He marches under that bridge all the time.
The 1st 3 chapters of the Triton story will tell you a lot about the USS Kearsarge Ship 11. It's only in chapter 4 that I go into great detail about the specific ship.
So read chapter 1 thru 3. You will enjoy it.... (I think)....
My son is ship 11 div 301..on the coins I am unfamiliar, are there different coins for each ship?
For those that are bored. If you want to read up on the USS Triton ship 12, here is the link:

@ craig..where can we purchase the coin?
@ craig my computer isnt that great..where can i purchase the triton coin as a gift for my son?
Jenideer: Above your post is Lala's post....just click on her icon and go to her page. You can message her for ribbon info.
tracileighe: They can actually receive mail M-F after that initial Sunday first delivery. But they usually can only "mail out" on Mondays. Sometimes later in bootcamp, they may be able to mail out more than once a week. It is totally up to their RDCs.
I agree with Lala's suggestion of considering Milwaukee to fly into it. Check out Southwest Airlines into Milwaukee (or Midway) because they have no change fee and 2 checked bags go for free. I understand car rental is cheaper in Milwaukee also. Midway is the furthest airport from RTC, but is one of the airports the sailors fly out of after PIR if anyone wants to go meet them/wait with them there.
Happy for those getting form letters and some phone calls, even if brief!
Also when choosing your flight consider Milwaukee. It is only a few further than O'hare but the traffic is not nearly as bad so it almost always takes less time.
Put those form letters in a very safe place. You will need them to be able to print off the parking pass to get in the gate at PIR. For safety and security reasons no one is allowed to share that parking pass so you won't be able to ask anyone other than your Sailor for the password if you don't have the form letter.
Good Morning Navy Family :-)
Hi, Moms
My SR has been calling, for his secret clearance questions. He is doing well. Says food is great, gained 10lbs. Made some new friends. Has been working hard in class(like your SR's) not too overwhelmed. Most wrote letters on Sunday. You should hear from them soon. They only can write and receive letters on Sunday. It takes time for them to get your letters, also. Hang in there Moms<3
