ColbysMom:  Yep, feel sure this is your group.  The last one ended with Div 298, so it is very likely that this will be your group.  Stay on here until it is confirmed by your form letter.

Welcome!  I am one of the N4Moms veterans on here to help...been doing this since early 2010.  Love doing it!  Please feel free to ask any and all questions that you want to!

Comment by diannep on August 2, 2012 at 12:27pm

MBMOM:  They don't use the PIR term at bootcamp...so when we would mention that term to our recruits, they would go "what???"  Same response if you call the hotels to book your room and ask for the PIR rate.  What?  But if you ask for the RTC Navy Grad rate, they usually know what you are talking about.   SO funny....

Now, one for you...do you know what a "dixie cup" is?  Not the kind you drink from in the bathroom either!  :-)

Since we're on names...lets talk about that a little.

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the N4M's Community Guidelines (clickable link). Within it are links for OPSEC videos and info.

That being said...don't be afraid to post! Our PIR groups are meant to inform and support you! PLEASE don't stop posting about your Recruit and getting letters and calls and stuff like that. Just don't mention specifics. If something is really concerning you and you don't want to post publicly, you are free to friend any of us veteran/seasoned moms and ask privately.

I have been a member of this site for over a year...I don't post my real name, pics or personal info...and I enjoy this site...and feel supported and try to help others. It can be done without giving out personal info.

Su- FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW is ...me! LOL My hubby got the moniker of fireteamleader as we have three sons...and his buds said, "Well, that's enough for a fireteam". It has stuck and so since he was deployed when our son enlisted in the Navy AND I needed a username ( I don't post my real name publicly on the site even though it is allowed...can't fight 29 years of "training"LOL) I adopted his and added to it!

You can call me FTLW though as the other is a mouthful!

PIR is Pass-in-Review...it is pronounced "pier" as in "take a long walk on a..." LOL

PIR is the formal ceremony that Friends and Family are invited to for their new Sailors.

Sailors "pass" by their Commanders and are "reviewed" or rather visually inspected.

It is just a way of honoring their accomplishment of becoming US Navy Sailors.

PIR an be held for other reasons and in all branches...such as this:

Just funnin' :-)

Also, you can type in acronym's into the NAVY SPEAK to the right >>>>>>>>

...but sometimes she doesn't answer well! LOL
