OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

xrosaelenax:  The password is the important part, so glad you have that!  You will find the gate prompt next to your PIR date at the bottom of the Upcoming Graduations page on the RTC site.  They normally have it up 11 days before PIR, but lately, they sometimes have it up at the end of the week before.  So be checking that page.  You just need to be sure to type in the password in ALL CAPS.

There is more info for you in the Family Guide at the link below.

So if I happen to have misplaced the direction on how to get a gate pass am I in trouble!? I know the password but I can't find the letter! I think it may be in my office, I am going to check tomorrow! Hopefully it's there!

Thank you diannep.  I finally figured it out.

pmass:  Sending an email on here is private.  You just can't post here on the public pages.  You have to send a friend request to someone (see what I posted for SRsailormoon below).  Once they accept, you can message them.  You will see that person's photo on your personal page under your FRIENDS (left side of your page) once they accept your request, or they may message you back.

SRsailormoon:  I just sent you a friend request.  Accept it and then you can message me privately.  You can do the same with any of the other N4Moms veterans on here....just send them a friend request by going to their page (clicking on their screen name or photo on their post).

Veteran moms, how can I private message you without anyone else seeing? I see how I can go to your profile and message you but I'm assuming anyone who goes to your profile can see that too. I would like to ask a question in private.

Hi Friends!

"Just as each of us has one body

with many members, and these members

do not all have the same function,

so in Christ we who are many form one body,

and each member belongs to all the others."

Dianne - thank you! The last thing I want is to get any of our SR's in hot water!
