~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I got a call yesterday too- feeling fantastic today! We are on home stretch now
Good Morning All !
navymom17: We were on the 6:30 shuttle and in PIR Hall shortly after 7. 9 divisions were in our PIR group--there are 11 in this one. The "best seats" were already taken in our division section! So THAT is why we say get there early. You can bring your breakfast in there if you want...they will have some videos going, and it is interesting to people watch too....especially the cute "little ones" who usually are getting their energy out pre-ceremony in their cute little Navy outfits! We were some that sat in the middle of the lower bleacher section and could see fine!
thank you catmom509 this group has really helped me alot
For you information, everyone, there is a larger NEX (Navy Exchange Store) off base, not far away. The one at RTC is the size of a 7-11 or gas station convenience store and really crowded after PIR. So if you don't have any business needing photos or ordering the Keel or PIR dvd at the Photo Lab, head over to this one:
Burkey Mall NEX www.mynavyexchange.com
Greenbay Road
Building No 3452
Great Lake, IL

Monday - Saturday 9:00 am - 8:00 pm
Sunday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
navymom17,
To get a good seat, maybe meet up with other moms you have made connections here if you trade cell phone numbers.. The best seats are on the lower bleachers in front or against the back wall. Also, the upper balcony in front. If you don't mind being smack in the middle of the sections or maybe not being in front of your SR's division, then you just need to be in your seats by 8:45 am. Navy for Moms gives our families a heads up that is not available to others.
my husband wants to know why we have to get to pir so early
