~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.'"

NVYWIFE: Only you know your SR...we don't. So go with your gut feelings....I know you will make the right decision whatever it is!
Hello my Navy Sisters! Good day to you!
NVYWIFE, again I am sorry for what you are going through. I understand it must be so hard to go through this without your husband. Only you know and understand him enough to make the right decision on what to do. Go with what your heart and your gut tell you, even if it is not what you want to hear. We can give you advise and gladly be here to listen but only you know your SR well enough to know what to do. I pray peace and comfort for you.
I am so sorry NVYWIFE, I know this is hard for your whole family. Just know that we are here to support you when you hubby is unavailable in boot camp. Many of us also suffered losses during boot camp and it was hard. My Aunt passed away unexpectedly while my daughter was in boot camp. They were close and she lived a couple house down from us the whole time my kids were growing up. I decided it was best not to tell my daughter until PIR and that was the best thing for her. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers {{{{{HUGS}}}}} please let us know if you need anything at all.
Good morning everyone.
Ladies thanks so much for the support, I really appreciate it. I'm still debating whether I should tell him. It seems everyone says only send positive information to them, but he and I's relationship has always been based on telling each other everything. So withholding information seems wrong to me.
Coedy'sMom: There is no MeetandGreet at Navy Lodge. The most popular one is Sarge's, which is at Sundance Saloon (area is closed to the public during this---children are welcome to come!)...it is about 4 miles from Navy Lodge. There is also one at Ramada and one at Flanagans (we have not heard good reports from this one).
..
So sorry, NVYWIFE. So hard to deal with a family death during Bootcamp. I agree with CatMom....if this is something he won't find out about from someone else....through a letter....and it is something you think he may not want to know about now because of his focus on his training, you may want to think about the timing of telling him. If you decide to and you feel he will take it very hard, you may want to contact the Chaplain before telling him.
The SRs are usually only allowed to leave Bootcamp and attend funerals of parents/siblings/children/spouses. Prayers for your family.
Good Morning All!
.
LoriJa--my son is!
