N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

YAY!!  Got our first letter today.  She sounds more upbeat than our last phone call.  She gets along well with her bunkmate....any moms from Washington here with a female SR in ship 14?? After lights out, they talk and laugh a lot.  She also said she's enjoy the letters and pictures, they really help.  I have been typing, because I write so large, I wouldn't be able to say much. lol...I have been inserting pics, inspirational quotes, funny cartoons etc into the word document and she said keep em coming!!

Veteran moms, I know we are not supposed to disclose names on here but is it ok to mention an SR's last name who is upset because he hasn't gotten any mail? Not sure if his family would actually be on here though, I mean all of us on here are the type to stalk our mailman everyday so if this kids not getting any mail, I assume his family wouldn't be on here but my son wanted me to ask because he feels bad for him.

Hello Veteran moms!

I have a some friends who want to send my SR letters which is great.

Is there a short paragraph somewhere that I can copy and paste that instructs them what NOT to do when sending a letter?

Just trying to make sure they don't unintentionally draw any undue attention to my son.

Thanks!

NVYWIFE:  So glad!  I have to give credit to one of my N4Moms friends who posted the link on her FB!

PANavyMom:  Yes, the Navy does a dental checkup on all of the SRs when they arrive.  They determine then if they need to remove the teeth or not.  If they think they could prove to be a problem when deployed one day, they take them out.  Not all have them out....some are just "watched" for a while, others are ok.

My husband is the Yeoman for his Division, and he told me that they had 56 dental/medical appointments just this week for the recruits in his division (out of 85 total recruits) and that the majority were all dental, a lot of wisdom extractions. But they dont have to have them out. His were fine so he gets to keep his.

I see quite a bit of talk about wisdom teeth being taken out. Does the Navy order this after tgey have gotten their dental checkup? my son Heath was having a little problem with them. How would I know? Havent heard aword from him yet, which is quite unusual cause we have always been close.

DIANNEP - Thanks so much for posting about the Southwest sale... Ive been watching the tickets from Denver for the past couple of weeks and theyve been almost $300... and I was just able to book my roundtrip flight for $180.... Such a blessing at a time where we are so tight on money. So thanks again. I definitely suggest any other moms who have not yet bought their tickets check out Southwest. I found Chicago was a lot cheaper for me than Milwaukee. But others might find different :-)
