N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Nicksmom/Suzbee:  That is an excellent idea and one many wonderful ladies in past groups have done.  If you can get the names of these SRs from your SR, it is even better to be able to address the letter to that person.  They LOVE hearing their name called at "Mail Call."

Just remember that letters just addressed to a generic Recruit will not be delivered, so you need to tuck in the extra letter with your SR's like you said....or address it specifically to that SR.  They will so appreciate it and be sure to put your return address because you most likely will get a letter back!

This is such a great forum.  My son is in 13-363, I have heard from him once, last Saturday and I am hoping to get another call from him today.  He thought maybe they would be able to call again this weekend.  We did receive two letters this week which was amazing.  So proud of him.  I am getting tons of information from this chat, thank you to all who post!

Suzbee I asked my son to see who wasn't recieving mail and ask if they wanted to recieve mail from me and my daughter. I should probably just add the extra letter and have him hand it out to someone, as we never know when we will hear from them again, via phone call. Our first call came last week Saturday @ 10:00 am, hoping to be lucky two weeks in a row and he calls again today. He calls my husbands cell phone that was the agreement we made before he left as my husband is retired and can answer any time and I can't always do that at work. So I drive my husband crazy, did he call, did he call? is your phone charged? do you have your phone? lol.. its like we don't have a life :) Miss him terribly. Like one of the other moms said, Its really quiet around here. I do still have my daughter (16 yrs old) still home she was always been the quiet one.

Wow is my house quiet. Along with my SR I just sent off the other one to college. Only one left thank god is my 12 year old. I am worried about how he is dealing though. Been very quiet.

Don't forget all the SRs that go without mail! If you like to write then enclose another letter to be handed off to a nearby SR who does not receive mail call. We've been sending one for every letter and enlisting others to send one, too. A kind word of pride and encouragement at the end of a tough day can and does make a difference!

Maureen, That is my life right now! You got it. At least we are not alone ladies. I am about ready to club my mailman if he doesn't leave a letter soon! Lol!

Hi everyone, no mail or call from Em today either, 11-365.  Hoping for this weekend or sometime this next week.  Looks like most of you are staying at the Navy Lodge.  Anyone staying at the Courtyard Marriott?

Maureen, you are too funny!
