N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Smurfette, where are you all coming from? My husband left from Boston. Is your sailor your only son in the Navy?

NVYWIFE22, I'm glad you got your letter, maybe mine will be home when I get there.  My son is also Ship 098 DIV 370.  My sailor is my youngest son.

Just got the form letter! What an overwhelming moment. When i saw it I started crying in front of my son (He's one) And he goes, "Mama, Jesus. Safe." My goodness are kids smart. Ship 09, Div370. Is anyone else the same? My sailor is my husband, not my son

Anyone else's SR in Ship 09 DIV 369? Im having such a difficult time, I miss my son so much and have not received a letter or phone call yet, I just want to know how he's feeling about everything.  I too want to stay at that Navy Lodge but I don't want to book too soon in case things get held up for whatever reason.

Thanks so much for the info, Dianne!  I will look into Anastasia's for sure.  I will call Sarge and get the scuttlebut from him!  Something tells me that he's quite a character.  I love people that devote themselves to such  wonderful causes!  That is why I want to go to his Meet and Greet. I can tell that his heart is really in it, and I haven't even met him yet!

Hello my son is on Ship 13 Div. 364.  I was able to talk to him Saturday. He called and we talked for 35 minutes. Was so relieved to find him in good spirits and still very excited to be there. lol I too booked at the Navy Lodge. We are driving to Graduation from NY. 10 hour drive. But I have to be there. I too am a Navy vet and my family were not able to come see me graduate and I don't want him to have to go through that. Very lonely feeling it was even though I understood why my family could't make it.

unitedwestand:  Yes, Navy Lodge is about a mile from base....very close.  It is for military only, however, your SR is considered the military connection so you book the hotel in your SR's name....tell them you are up there for bootcamp graduation.  They just renovated it recently....we have heard all positive reviews on it.

Other hotels to consider (4-5 miles from base) based on reviews we have received on here are:

Springhill Suites, Residence Inn, Courtyard Inn, Holiday Inn Express---all in the Waukegan/Gurnee area.  We stayed at Residence and really liked it.  Navy Lodge and Residence are pet friendly too if pets want to travel with you to see their new sailors!  :-)

LoriJa:  I'm thinking that Sarge may have a great suggestion for you on the restaurant info you are needing.  I know there is a restaurant called Anastasia's up there that many have mentioned...and has been wonderful in the past years for making space for Navy families.  Not sure what kind of food they have though.

Here is Sarge's phone number.  Feel free to text or call him.  This is his "down time" now...he starts getting busy by Wed or Thurs through Sun, with his MeetandGreet and shuttling Navy families around from the Friday PIR.  He is good about getting back to you.  "Peggy" just posted a rave review on Sarge and his helpfulness after last week's PIR.
